    Oooo. Good one.

She asked this in the "stump Rota" thread, too. My guess was a hug.
2 people can hug. 1 person can hug themselves, but that's rare. Hugs can be a welcoming action. When everyone leaves, there are no hugs to be had.
I had a few other answers that fit, like forest/trees, and night, stars. But, a hug was my fave from the answers I could come up with. I never thought of laughter. I really like that answer.

both excellent and applicable but not what i had in mind. something less me and more general public oriented.

Then "speech" or "conversation" would seem a reasonable guess.

...but perhaps I'm being too literal in my approach.

*grin* Still, I earned a cheer from Rota. That's pleasant. :o)

Woot! I beat Rota! (does a little dance for joy)

    OK; here's a classic:
Six tall glasses stand in a row on the bar in front of you. The first three are full of beer; the second three you've just emptied in the most compendious manner possible: you've consumed the beer. Now, arrange them so the empty and the full glasses alternate by moving as few glasses as possible.

By the way - looks like a late eighteenth-century west country England watercolor, but I don't know the artist.

Simply switch the middle of the three full glasses with the middle of the three empty glasses.
