Contrary to popular belief, prisons make the country money and provide a lot of jobs in that they buy supplies from contractors, furniture stores etc etc. Though we do spend more money on prisons than we do on schools. Shows you where our priorities are.

Ignorant implies a lack of knowledge. This may be slightly true as I do not have knowledge of exactly how much revenue is generated by our tax money. I do kno two things however:

1. I said prisons do not generate revenue. This is true, prisons are NOT profit centers to the American government. They may be profit centers to private companies contracting the service, but they are not profit centers at the top line.

2. The American government is operating in a deficit. Deficit means a net negative revenue stream - we are borrowing money to meet our obligation. Therefore it doesn't matter that the government might generate some revenue from our tax dollars, the reality is that we are still operating at a net loss or net negative revenue.

If you remember correctly, (posted above) I said prisons make the county money. Although you are correct that prisons generally don't make money. That is to say, prisons don't produce anything or increase in value, but people make money off them through what's called 'creative financing.' The private prison industry is highly subsidized by the government (corporate welfare). These subsidies come in the form of tax breaks and abatements, money for development, breaks on local water and other utilities supplied by the town or county, government grants for job training and other expenses, and access to government only bonds. To sum it up, if tomorrow the world turned into a utopia then a lot of people would be out of a job once the inmates die off.

True, but since it is as you said, corporate welfare, when the prisoners are all eaten up, we would no longer need to fund the prisons with our tax dollars. So, we can just take those same tax dollars and build a new government subsidized industry to perfect the spork or something.

I have a solution! We give them all the humans in Prisons. Then we could use that money that we saved to pay off our debt to china..... or point the aliens towards china...

I have to admit that I got super duper stoned before posting this evening, so bare with me lol.
I think if we introduced the said aliens to a little thc, burning in massive amounts in all areas of the world, it could possibly benifit us both. Bare^with me now, in doing this might enable us to coexist. Possibly not even only on earth but, with the aliens help on mars or something that is if they bring valuable things. To support this 'high time' idea all we would have to do is start demanding mandentory indoor grow operation(s) in every household. Which in turn would aslo create a bunch of Doritos (insert trademark symbol here) factorys and giving careers for the jobless. Which in turn could possibly rid the world of our current state of political and economic turmoil. We all win
