Possibly. But you wouldn't get the interesting love triangles that usually occure when the number three is thrown in the mix. What if the beautiful people love the mediocre people who settle for the ugly people who envy and love the beautiful people so they spurn the mediocre people who in a fit of rage kill the ugly people which invokes the beautiful people's sympathy for the ugly people and causes them to have the mediocre people assasinated which makes them feel guilty so the beautiful people commite suicide.

Um, yes. Wait no. Um, I just had to think of something to kill them off and thats what popped into my head first. They could have been attacked by a horde of bloodthirsty chipmunks, but I thought suicide would be more plausible.
