I wish I had saved my back and forth conversations with the support desk when I submitted a ticket for this exact thing. My alliance, "TheBrood" on server 78 had an enemy log onto server 77 before the merge into ss25, when it was rumoured to be happening soon. They created "TheBrood" on 77. They were 40k prestige with 1 city and 1 account. We were the #1 alliance with 99 members and millions of prestige. We got renamed to TheBrood_200 and the 1 city fake one got to keep the name rather than be renamed to TheBrood_199 and let us fight for who gets it first.

I submitted a ticket complaining that someone's dummy acct got the name and their "if names conflict we'll rename both and first person on gets to snag the proper one" wasn't carried through with. The solution was to flag my alliance name, TheBrood_200, as inappropriate. What that did was force me as host to type a new name (Brood) into the popup box at the login screen, or I couldn't log in again. I renamed to "Brood" without "The" in the front.

Thanks Evony for giving my alliance name to the 40k prestige alt!

When the next merge came along into ss52, no one took our name thankfully. This wasn't the case on the ss60 merge though. "Brood" once again went out of ss52 as the #1 alliance, and into ss60 as the #2 alliance, and we were once again renamed to Brood_266 or somesuch, while a dummy account with "Brood" got to keep our name. We booted everyone and reformed again.. but seriously Evony, you suk in your management of merges and name rights. Either rename both, or let the oldest or largest one stay, this policy of letting the oldest SERVER keep the names even if they're brand new names, is garbage 'cuz Brood has gotten screwed every merge being the youngest server.
