Thread: Alliance names / player names

Default Alliance names / player names

i just discovered that on ss49 and ss52 soon to merge with ss51 all have alliances called ELITE.

49 has one member, 52 only 8 members. I am host of ELITE on 51 with 72 members. I hope that my alliance wont get the numbers after the name, as it wouldnt be fair for all my members. will system favour the larger alliance.

also how does that also apply to the player name.

oh should add, maybe if all alliances with names duplicated should get the numbers and then the 1st to log in to grab the name gets it 1st

I believe there's a bigger chance that the system will go for the bigger alliance instead. I've seen it happen on ss50; the system affixed the numbers after the name of the smaller alliance.

On the other hand, in the instance that your alliance gets wrongly tagged, hosts are given free Ritual of Pacts anyway, so you're free to recreate your alliance. (Tedious and annoying, but that's one of the things you'd have to put up with when a merge happens.)

As for player names ... I'm not entirely too sure. I believe the system tags both with numbers to give a distinction of who came from what server. For example, if there are two Boleslavs, one from ss49 and one from ss51, the first one will be tagged Boleslav_49 and the other will be Boleslav_51 ... or something to that effect.

This is not a problem though; you get free name changes after a merge anyway.
If you want to keep your name, you'd have to ask that other person to change his/hers so you can change back to your original lord name ... but good luck with that if ever the other person turns out to be inactive.

As for this topic ... I think this belongs more in the H&Q section than in Game Suggs. Moved.

EDIT: (Since you edited before I can move it properly ...) That's kind of a messy setup that you're suggesting. Moving this to GD instead.

whats funny is when S83 and S85 merged we had the larger alliance from S85 there was an alliance with the same name on S83 but it only had about 10 people in it. The alliance from S85 had almost 100 people in it.... the alliance from S85 was given the numbered tag at the end of it, you think it would have been _85? That was they way we thought it should have at least played out yet we were oddly given the _80 suffix instead. weird. chalk it up to the genius minds behind the planning of the merger. meh anywho

And how does one change the alliance name? Since the original name we had is now free no one using it, how can we change it without loosing all our members and making them join a new alliance???

Unfortunately, Evony removed the option to change the name of alliances due to it being exploited too often. The only way to have your alliance's name changed is to do exactly what most hosts don't want to; disband and recreate.

    Well fuzzysicles!

I was wondering as it seems that some still can do so without doing that. Could we we request it formally? to have evony change our name? since it was stolen from us during Their forced merger???

interesting note, if you have the same name as a person from another server, and you merge, both of you get the number after the name.

here is the note, if you want to keep the name, all you have to do it quickly change your name by deleting the numbers after your name. It may not be nice to the other guys but it does work. Also, I have noticed it is possible to have the same name in some cases, I once put a 0 in my name when someone else had the same name on a new server. The game did not read the 0 and made it a o, so the names looked the same. Not sure if this is fixed though.

I was talking about the alliance name itself. But thanks for the tip

I wish I had saved my back and forth conversations with the support desk when I submitted a ticket for this exact thing. My alliance, "TheBrood" on server 78 had an enemy log onto server 77 before the merge into ss25, when it was rumoured to be happening soon. They created "TheBrood" on 77. They were 40k prestige with 1 city and 1 account. We were the #1 alliance with 99 members and millions of prestige. We got renamed to TheBrood_200 and the 1 city fake one got to keep the name rather than be renamed to TheBrood_199 and let us fight for who gets it first.

I submitted a ticket complaining that someone's dummy acct got the name and their "if names conflict we'll rename both and first person on gets to snag the proper one" wasn't carried through with. The solution was to flag my alliance name, TheBrood_200, as inappropriate. What that did was force me as host to type a new name (Brood) into the popup box at the login screen, or I couldn't log in again. I renamed to "Brood" without "The" in the front.

Thanks Evony for giving my alliance name to the 40k prestige alt!

When the next merge came along into ss52, no one took our name thankfully. This wasn't the case on the ss60 merge though. "Brood" once again went out of ss52 as the #1 alliance, and into ss60 as the #2 alliance, and we were once again renamed to Brood_266 or somesuch, while a dummy account with "Brood" got to keep our name. We booted everyone and reformed again.. but seriously Evony, you suk in your management of merges and name rights. Either rename both, or let the oldest or largest one stay, this policy of letting the oldest SERVER keep the names even if they're brand new names, is garbage 'cuz Brood has gotten screwed every merge being the youngest server.
