Thread: New Super Servers Online and Ready

  1. #41

    Default Inactives

Obviously inactives are a problem, that Evony does not know how to deal with....

My suggestion is to send notice of merge a few weeks or a monthy b4 the merge, making players choose to go to new merge server or if they don't choose, then they go to a inactive server. If they become active give them a server account port (hmmm sounds kind of cool porting server to server), maybe the server port would only take them to the new server that they would have been in anyway.

If this has been said already, sorry no time to read all pages, and i agree wth whoever said it .

    Default Super server solution

Here is my idea. When doing a new super server Evony should create a new island / grid. Name it something like "Limbo"

All cities are moved to Limbo. Its just a grid jam packed with cities only. There is no marching and zero troop upkeep in Limbo. All Alliances stay intact. Each city is granted 1 Advance teleport.

The rest of the Evony states would be set up as normal but with no player controlled cities. ACTIVE players would then use the advance teleport to the state / location of their choice. There is no porting back into Limbo. Once a player ports into the game troop upkeep stays at zero for X number of days. Players porting in are in a modified truce status and able to farm NPC's, take valleys and make cities for X number of days before the Modified Truce expires. Of course the player would still have the option to end their Modified Truce status to Normal and "Let the Wars Begin"

This eliminates the need for pioneer transport, Groups the inactives together and keeps them off the battlefield, No need for sweeps or establishing criteria for active/inactive status. No need to worry about account deletion for people that bought coins or didn't. They all remain in Limbo.

This allows the ACTIVE players some room to breathe and set up farming areas. Since there would only be actives on the battlefield there would be no unmanned, easy targets for free lunches or honor dumping. Instead of just starving to death or quitting, I think this would promote an environment where people are forced to hunt or farm, either way Evony will benefit because the port buying hunters may need to buy more ports. The players will get the rush that comes with attacking/defending.

I think its a win-win situation for both Evony and the active players.

    Too much work.

When a server is merged, simply do not populate a player's cities onto the grid until s/he logs back on to the server.

If the player never logs in, their cities never appear on the grid.

Basicly its the same idea, the data has to be stored somewhere. All cities in one grid, too much work??? pffft

SS56 has been having sever issues in the past 24 hours- at least...
I personally can not on even log in currently into the game, I keep getting the "Network Error" box.

In the last 24 hours it WILL
    - auto refresh on me
    - freeze/lag to the point that I can not do anything after a few minuets [this cycle continues since I manually refresh the page]
    - and will continue this acting up for hours

I personally gave up trying to get in after 2-3 hours last night, and this morning I can not even get into the game itself...

Wouldn't be surprised if the issues is with BOTs in the game... And NO I can't point to a name and say this one belongs with it, but I could show the BOT cites before the merger - ones with no coherent context for the player name or city name.

    Default Wrong place, wrong time

I don't understand why some people struggle paying attention. My comment said that the new super servers thread was an inappropriate place to complain about some other servers that aren't involved. Lots of threads to whine and complain. People use them regularly and often. I've got zero problems with that. Say your peace, be heard. Just don't jam pack a thread that might have had some use with a bunch of junk. Which is exactly what happened. Surprise surprise.

There are servers (including 129 where I play) that are in dire need of a merge. I can't see a reason why they can't say so. And why would they say "Thanks" if they were left out. lol

Ummm, so you weren't given pioneer ports so you could move to any open spot on the whole map?

Totally agree with you there, I have stopped all spending and so has the majority of the server. Oh btw Yoel, us warriors of 129 are REALLY looking forward to the prospect of annihilating the farmers of 128 if we ever do get fortunate enough to merged

I see no reason to alter my opinion here. I said my piece before and my opinion is not altered with your last post.

I am thrilled to see that players from many servers have the same issues and oppinions as 131.
I think merges regularly would keep things shaken up, interesting so that more would be inclined to continue to play and purchase.
I do agree that not introducing a players cities to the map till they have logged in would lessen the number of inactive cities all over and leave open the option for returning players who have spent even after long absences.
Definately looking forward to the thrill of a merge and fresh meat.
