If you don't start within 48 hours of a new server then it's pointless to start at all. You can't get into any decent alliances no matter how much you know about the game. You end up just being farmed by early starters and coiners.

I started on s148 a week ago, came out of BP yesterday and tomorrow I would have been able to farm lvl 5's (yes, I had 600 balistas and 700 transports). Problem is, I don't have "X" prestige so I ended up in a weak alliance. Too bad that good players leave server because of stuff like that.

its not a good alliance if they go my pres and not army. so your applying for the wrong ones. i started 2 weeks late and in good alliance

In my opinion an experienced player could work around that. However someone on their first server would be in difficulty I must admit unless they found an alliance which although weaker had players in it who were able to advise them well and bring them on.

I am playing on my on my first and only server. I had difficulties to start with as I knew nothing of how the game really worked and eventually chose to join an alliance. It wasn't a strong alliance in terms of prestige and power, but it was a strong alliance in terms of team spirit. I learned a lot of the basics there.

Prestige is quite easy to build very quickly if you already know the ropes so lack of prestige wouldn't be a problem for long anyway :-)

EDIT: I missed one key point here. Make a note of EVERY player who hits you and slows your progress building. Then when you do get in a decent alliance and have built well, hope these players are red to you and then show them what it meant to you when they hit you in the early days

I had 3 accounts on each server, and when servers merged,i lost my ss40 accts and cities i had built on for just over a year.Is there a way to recover them before they are totally lost or are they already gone?

Did you just pick any thread at random to post that? This thread was started on the subject of the likelihood of survival of a player on a new server if they join a couple of weeks late.

Starting late doesn't mean you can't do well/get a good alliance. My friend Dafi, who is unfortunately forum banned, once had a screen shot of when he startd SUPER late on server one. Within a week or so he was doing well.

The alliance doesn't have to be number one to be good or number 100 to be bad. If they recruit soully based on prest, don't bother with them anyway. Try to find a twenty to forty ranked alliance, and one that isn't based on prest. They are some of the better alliances, as they have low numbers, but good people.
