There are arguments that too much hygiene is bad for you.

Shampooing can strip minerals and nutrients from hair. I may shower everyday, but I only shampoo my hair every 2-3 days. the rest of the time I just rinse it.
People who live in overly sterile conditions may suffer a weakened immune system, because it has very little work to do. Fighting off the occasional "bug" helps our immune system create antibodies to add to it's arsenal of defenses.
There are bacteria that live on our skin that actually repel some airborne threats to our health.
If we ate completely sterile food all the time, we would never get some necessary bacteria into our digestive system. Our digestive process requires these bacteria to leech out nutrients from food that our body absorbs.

We should all practice good hygiene. But, we should embrace a little "dirt" now and then.

I agree with you there. I never wash my hair every day. The same can be said for what shower gel (or otherwise) that you use. You're supposed to use products which are "kind to your skin" as most of them kill all the good bacteria which live on it. Killing off all this bacteria every day with your shower can leave you more prone to illness.

The same goes for those hand sanitizers. They kill 99% of the bacteria on your skin. But, 98% of those bacteria are supposed to be there.

Most of those bacteria are floating in the air, anyway. Not 2 seconds after the sanitizer dries up, almost all the bacteria have come back. They are a total waste of money in my opinion.

thats why i said "proper" hygiene. i've never seen any of this bacteria, i've never seen any microorganism inside or outside my body. my point was that we have to have faith in the people who study such things to "know" that they are there.
