    Default should polls close?

i've noticed that when we vote for things their are people who notice that the poll doesnt close. is this a good thing? i mean yeah there should be an end result but isnt the campaigning the fun part, so if the poll never closed then we could go on voting about if forever and then the fun wouldnt stop, it would just slowly die out.

    what do you think?

Sometimes a poll needs a final answer to put an end to an issue. The deadline exists for a reason. Some polls need an option to be never ending so people can participate forever. But some polls need an end date.

like "what should i wear to the prom?" that poll i can see needing to end in a timely manner. A) so you can purchase what your going to wear with enough time to have it arrive and get fitted and B) so that you are not sitting at your comp a week after prom doing yet another recount

well i think that extending the voting time can be good in some circumstances. for example if you know there was a massive internet black out in some area where a large number of your voters lived it would behoove you to extend the voting so that they could participate and not raise a mob against you for planing the black out just when they wanted to vote so that they couldn't and therefor denying them the chance to voice their opinion so now their after you with pitchforks and knives to tell you what their opinion REALLY is.

this reminds me of a conversation i had with one of my customers the other day
"so what if they are in the middle of a job, go to lunch, get food poisoning, then when they get out of hospital...they go on vacation? what do i do about that situation??"

but i do think it would be good to be able to choose to either have a deadline or not

I voted for all over the above. And I do not believe everything has an ending. For instance, how many times have you counted to infinity?

I would never run in an endless election. It's too much hard work.

It's funny that at the time of writing this only one less person has voted to demand a recount than for all other options.

Thats why you make your underlings run while you sit in the background and quietly rule. If they fail at their assigned tasks, execute them and find others.
