Evony (the company) has two problems whose solutions are mutually exclusive or antagonistic:
1) If ppl have spent coin on the game, then banking laws will block Evony from arbitrarily closing these accts because it would amount to corporate theft or consumer fraud. So the problem is an external factor (the law) over which Evony has no control in combination with the very popularity of the game itself. Ghosts of players past are winning out over active players simply by hanging around. They walk away and dont give the game another thought.
Maybe an idea might be for Evony to mail the login emails of dead accts once a week urging these ppl to return and clean up after themselves. Something like: We're glad you came. We're sorry you left. But before you forget about us, as a courtesy to your other players, could you please login once more to push ReSet or otherwise explicitly close your acct so we can take appropriate action?
There is a city on ss46 which we recognise as the last city of the founder of our alliance. His last login was October of 2009. Eighteen months later and it is still here ....
