You see, this is what I am trying to tell you all who are so happy with this 'fix' they have made the game unplayable at the high levels. Once you reach the top there is nothing to do any more. No challenge. All you can do is attack much weaker people, like, say, those with lvl 7 walls. Think it through. At lvl 7 you have a chance. Now add another 50% to the range of the units that fired at you. Because that is what 2 more levels of walls and 3 more levels of archery will do.

It is the reason we are ****ed off. After a month of play, and having fun fighting other top players, now we are stuck being unable to attack each other without everyone dying pointlessly.

Check around on the forum. There is a thread where a guy shows an attack with like 50k troops and 20k ballista, where he went against a lvl 9 town with its gates CLOSED. He lost pretty much his entire army. Just to the wall defenses. Yes, in that case he took out most of the wall defs, but if the gates had been opened and it was someone at the top, there would easily have been another 50k archers shooting.

I edited, sorry.

You are not convincing me. Wiping out City Defence is a big to do in this game. They are built using one barracks. Single wave take downs of cities need to stop. That guy won't have 20K Archer towers up as fast as you build a Ballista force. Not with multiple varracks.

Losses? They come with war. Unbreakable armies means Armies only get bigger and biger and bigger.
I can well imagine seeing a battle report telling you you are out 90K Ballista or 50K ballista is a sick feeling but so is logging on to a plundered city that you spent weeks building fortifacations for.
