Thread: What do walls do?

    Default What do walls do?

All a person needs to do is have 1 person get through my traps and archer towers and they can sack my city. Shouldn't walls be a challenge to get through, otherwise just send 10K meatshield to fill the traps with carcasses and you're good.

Well if someone sends 10k warriors against someone with high lvl walls and even a moderate amount of archers they will be slaughtered......

walls allow you to build more archer towers, rock falls, rolling logs, etc. since the new pacth i think that the higher the wall the longer range you have to defend

o yeah and you need to upgrade your wall so that you can upgrade your town center

You are incorrect. 1 person is not enough to get through walls. Walls have a "durability" which must be taken to zero if even 1 Abatis is left (perhaps even if not, not sure on that).

You'd need a bit more than 10k meatshield to break my wall defences, but that's not really the point. Walls are an extra defence, they're not ment to be impenetrable, they just add extra to whatever army you have guarding your city.

Also different defences have different functions, abatis f.e. whilst not particular useful against a large army of infantry, do mean that if someone wants to cap your city they will have to sacrifice cavalry in order to take these out first.

Having a well stacked high lvl wall means that attacking your city is going to be costly. Mostly it's about deterent.

i've taken two cities that still had abatis left over when i started to rebuild them.

Let me be clearer. Abatis tend to be the only / last Fortification as only Cavalry trigger/destroy them. If ANY Fortifications are left then an attacker must then break down the wall to plunder a city.

the walls and the abatis were still there when i took the cities over.

maybe it took me longer to take the city than it would for you because of wall durability, but i still took them nonetheless

I've seen you trolling a lot of people, so I'm not sure if you're just trolling me here but I'll say it one last time to be clear for people. Because I'm a nice guy.

Combat consists of these parts in this order:

    1) Attacker hits defending troops (if gates are open), must kill / defeat all troops.

    2) Attacker hits defending Archer Towers, must kill / defeat all towers.

    3) Attacker hits defending Wall (if any traps/abatis/logs/rocks remain). Must reduce Durability of Wall (this depends on the walls level, higher level wall has higher durability, check help forum for #s) to Zero.

If attacker can do 1, 2, 3 in 100 rounds, they have breached the defenses of the town and can now plunder it and lower the loyalty of the town. These things must be done for every attack (only the durability returns to full by itself).

    i'm not trolling you, man.

if i was lowering the durability of the walls, then i didn't notice. all i know is that i attacked, killed the troops, and all defenses in one shot (one was a weak city and the other was a guy with lvl 10 TH that teleported next to me because he was getting hit somewhere else). after that it was just dropping the loyalty. i didn't see anything aboot the durability of the walls. like i said, maybe i missed it.
