People were exploiting that to run multiple accounts and bots. When I was a player prior to joining the company, I would login that way, and as such I ended up missing things like news, t&c's, etc.

Since I play Age 2 now, I always login through evony.com, which makes checking my cities in different servers both Age 1 and 2 a slightly more difficult process.

What this change does is filters players through a single entry page which allows us to communicate news better, allows our players access to Helpspot, feedback, and account management. It also makes cheating a little more difficult. It won't solve THAT issue, but it takes steps in that direction.

I also noticed mention in the thread of people having looping login issues where they would go to evony.com, login, and go back to the evony.com page. This is an issue with recent builds of Chrome (which we do not currently actively support), and I've gotten around it by using Firefox. That may help.

I'm on your side that this is a change for the better, if it helps defend against some level of cheating. But there is no need for the used car salesman pitch in there. This does make logging in more cumbersome process, there is no need to pretend that this is an "easier" process.

I fully embrace this cumbersome login, but I sincerely hope to see results in-game. I expect to see a drop in account sharing and multis and botting and flat fillers.

As some of you have noticed today we changed the login procedure slightly. You will no longer be able to autolink directly to a server using a book mark, you will need to go through evony.com to login to the game at this time.

TO LOGOUT:
1. Close all Evony windows and go to www.evony.com and click Play.
2. When your account comes up, click "Logout" at the right.

TO LOGIN:
1. go to ww.evony.com and click play
2. Login either via e-mail or facebook connect.
3. For Age I servers, scroll down to the bottom where it says Age I Servers.
4. For Age II servers, scroll down to where it says age II servers

(Please be aware that just a Facebook login will not get you access to Age1 servers, you need to have an email login or a linked email to your Facebook account)

So why did we do this? It came to our attention that users were using a different login process than what we intended, while unintentional, was a violation of the terms of use and rather than logging in from www.evony.com, users were logging into servers directly through a URL. While all Age II servers did not allow this type of access, Age I servers did and so we have corrected that. We have had one main access point for users to login from to obtain access to all servers and create accounts, and we want to ensure that this route is used rather than other methods.

I have read through this multiple time and the only thing I don't understand is "ather than logging in from www.evony.com, users were logging into servers directly through a URL". Are you trying to say that its against the T&A to logged in through the 149.evony.com or 140.evony.com. I don't usually complain but I just realized how pointless is this. Instead of doing this, can we focus more on the ways players are cheating?

Of course, I may be missing something. Is there a way to abuse logging in through a URL instead of a main page? I don't expect you guys to change it back, I just wish that we could focus on more important things than people logging on faster.

id like it changed back, logging in through the main page is a pain in the . sometimes it glitches and shows as you starting a new account all over and having to log out and back in again to fix, which is quite annoying, and through the URL (like wn1.evony.com) is way faster and i dont see how it is a problem..

....still not working. I walked away for a few hours, came back to the new Login Instructions being posted, followed them....nope....

Enabling cookies has not helped either, as someone earlier suggested. I did that a long time ago.

The only logout button that appears during the process is on the upper LEFT side of the server list page....never anywhere on the right, as the new instructions seem to indicate. Yes of course I've already tried using that logout button, closing FF & then coming back to login again. The loop is still there.

I've been thru this entire process with IE too, still to no avail, so that suggestion is mute. Believe me, I have done EVERYTHING possible to get in to N4....I just keep looping back.

Sad thing is that I do spend money on this game occasionally, but at this rate, Evony may have seen the last of that from me too, since I can't even get in.

I think this will cause Evony more problems than fix them. Why? Because despite having the store password and login unticked it WILL save these details. Anyone who uses a public computer to access Evony runs a huge risk of having their account unintentionally accessed because of this. This is an enormous step backwards in player security and unless you rectify it this will bite you in the azz very hard.

Alot of public computers also dont allow the user to clear the cookies due to restriction settings to prevent history and such been cleared

Exactly. I just want to moan and and then scream at . It just makes me mad that we're focusing on such a small issue. wonder what's next that we gotta fix. "The Logging Botton and the Password button are in different places. The Password is suppose to be above the logging. Fixed now though."

Besides, its not like anyone reads the terms and agreement, if they had left it like that, no one would know.

The problem is that without that change, people who create about 1,000 accounts at the same server will have even a tougher time to fill up a server. If a person wants to make noob accounts to fill up a server, that person will have a tougher time filling up a server.
It isn't a 'small' issue. Always the new servers get filled about a week. This way new accounts will be spread out throughout the servers instead of being in one server where soon they will be at the overflow point.
Now, if a person who wants to fill up a server, they cannot access the quick links now. Instead they have to log in in the main page, scroll to find their server, etc.
No, they will not add a login button in random places.

In all honesty, you flood our mail boxes with news and offers on a very regular basis so this is a rather weak excuse to use.

Each new server I join I use a different email. Now it is a pain in the azz for me to log onto the two servers I play because I use different logins for each server. Why I use different logins is because of how poor security is with Evony. The number of accounts of friends I have seen hacked and reset is ridiculous. Now the process of logging on to my 2 servers I play is a tedious annoying process. Thanks a lot for that. And what was this supposed to do? Stop the botters? They will find a way around it and I wouldn?t be surprised if they have already. Will be business as usual for them. Meantime the average joe suffers in a very lame attempt to counter botters and multi account users. Well done evony

Why do you use a different email to log into different servers? You know that you can log in with the same email to access different servers. The only way an account can be hacked if you have an easy password such as "1234567890" or "qwertyuiop" or "asdfghjkl." Most accounts that get hacked are either hacked by user mistake, or poor security to their password/email. As in when you said, stop the botters, the botters will make less the accounts now since they will need to preform extra steps.

To avoid this, do Ctrl>Alt>Del and clear the cache, cookies, form data, and passwords. OR run your browser in (if google chrome), Incognito mode, (If IE), In private Browsing, etc. If they do not allow you to do this, don't check the box that says Save password, or press logout.

A large proportion of the people whose accounts are hacked have either used a bot (do you really think those login credentials aren't logged?) or account share outside of the guidelines that we allow. That's all information we can track.
