I think the problem a lot of people have with this "Nerf" is that they relied on the old way the NPCs worked and based most of their plans on this, by downgrading the resources available from the NPCs a lot of people now have bigger armies than they can feed.

Personally I will lose my excess on enemy walls and don't have too much of a problem with how it works now, but changing the game in ways which will affect some players a huge amount is obviously gonna ruffle a few feathers.
