Without a way to protect your time investment this game fails for anyone who doesn't stay logged in constantly. This game cannot survive without the casual user and the high prestige players pretty much make that impossible. That's why I kinda have to laugh at the bellyaching that city defense actually works now and all the players who think this game is about nothing more than killing people half your strength are leaving, the fact is those are the players that need to leave.
And because defence now works the way it does you and your kind will always now be preyed on by me and my kind. Kind of unfair, pretty pointless and mean but until I'm sick of this game and quit, attacking players of your ilk is all I have to keep amused. That and the hate mail that invariably floods in.

Before you get all, 'you suck etc..' on me, I too went away for a week and came back to having all but one city destroyed and my last one in a state of ruin. Did I whine that the tough players were mean? No, I found a more active and helpful alliance, got some tips and started again. Now I'm one of the bullies you types of players always whinge about. There are always winners and losers in wargames, if you dont like it, play some other type of game.

As for fixes, I'm not convinced by those listed here, but they would be a start.

We need more high end quests, maybe things that revolve around trying to find an item (for example excalibur) in Lvl 10 NPC's. Make high Lvl players spend all their energies doing that for awhile until they find one, by then have another quest along the same lines, give NPC's a little AI even? Something, anything.

Dev's, are you listening?
