Buddy, some of us drop pres not because we want to be small, but because of the idiotic plunder of resources & troops.. what's the point of being the biggest guy in your alliance if nobody can support you? I don't know what my prest would be on my current active server, I rarely let it get over 10 mil. I don't think prestige rules is the real problem with this game, it's the persistent lack of dev time spent listening to their customer base.
what? accepted MsArianna friend request? Score! lol
and at Skel: hehe, pres as a limit for attacks assumes players couldnt drop it arbitrarily themselves. I feel that would have made it more valuable. Even so, I always wore it as a badge of honor that I needed support from noone tbh. For me it is a valuable number, one I used to its fullest helping anyone big or small, and those old retired fogies (*cough, cough Skel, like I might be soon lol) that came on and wanted to battle for a bit needing reslol
Think about it....Who wouldnt want the 'title' that goes with being the top pres guy that only the best and highest ranked players could battle. Thats true prestige, and would have given another goal to be the best beyond the simple quests Evony gives peeps now.
Sometimes he who hesitates.....gets punched in the face.
I need street cred, so if you liked my post please add to my rep
lol..........
Buddy, I was going to start a thread like this, but you beat me to it. I agree with you that the more one plays Evony, the more one discovers its limitations. But to me, the removal of NPCs was a small matter, perhaps because I was less effected by this than you were. But, I've seen a well coordinated enemy alliance do the same thing to members of my alliance, so its not like I regard an NPC as being a permanent fixture. If you can afford the teleports and organize your mates (play enough accounts?), you can strip an opponent of his NPCs and port in your attack cities.
Let's face it, "Evony - Free Forever" is just false advertising and that is where the biggest imbalance in the game lies. The game offers huge offensive advantages to whoever can afford to purchase On Wars, Excalibers and Teleports. The game also affords a huge offensive advantage to the unemployed and underemployed who can play the game 12 or more hours a day, and to those who have no qualms about cheating.
What would be cool would be "Evony - Level Playing Field" (ELPF) in which each player was required to contribute the same amount per month to server upkeep, and no player could buy extra anything. An ELPF server would also allow either that a player can have as many accounts as he wants, or that he can have only one account and the rule would somehow be enforced.
Another ELPF idea that some would like and some would not, but that would definately level the playing field, would be to limit a player to X number of hours per day, or maybe limit the server to a limited number of hours per day. Putting time limitations on the server would be much easier to enforce than putting the limitation on the player. I, for example, would pay a fixed fee per month for an ELPF that ran six hours a day, from 18:00 to 24:00 server time. Given the numbers playing evony, I would think that there would be a sub-market for this sort of thing.
I'm tossing these ideas out here as ideas which would allow Evony to earn a steady income, but would enhance the game by not favoring the coiner, the slacker or the cheater.
As to my bona fides, I no longer play under the name BriceBaker, but I am a Top 20 prestige queen on a super server. I've been playing since September of 2009, so almost a year and a half. I would admit to not being very sophisticated with the whole battle mechanics aspect of the game. I'm more of a pacifist farmer who supports his allies with resources and reinforcements. Any alliance mates reading this profile will know who I am. SJ rocks.![]()
