    You're young.
When you get older, you will be able appreciate it. I'm not saying you'll be buying downloads, or going to the symphony. But, you will be able to appreciate the moods it can set, and the emotions it can evoke.

There are plenty of young people that enjoy classical music but only if they're brought up in a household that has it playing on the radio the whole time. It can also happen if they just play it a lot as part of lessons. I mean, how would they have National Youth Orchestras if the young people didn't like classical music?

Did I say all young people hate classical?

I was merely pointing out that Mop will learn to appreciate it with age. Across the board, I have seen that even the most narrow minded soul learns to appreciate a broader spectrum of music as they get older.

It just seemed to me that you said the only reason Mopster doesn't like it is because he's young. I know you were only directing it at him but in my mind when you said "You're young", I thought it was a generalisation...or something. The joys of text-based communication.

Sorry, I did not mean to imply that youth was the cause of his dislike.

I merely meant to say that age will be the cure for his dislike.

i'm kind of eclectic in my taste
my only requirement when it comes to enjoying music is that the performance is "well done"
recordings of classical music are almost always performed perfectly so they're easy to enjoy

my favourite piece is the 1812 overture... i likes the cannons

Ah very nice I like 1812 a lot myself too
If you like Overture 1812 you will most probably also like the (4th movement of) 5th Symphony of Schostakovich, the New World symphony by Dvorak, and maybe even the Te Deum by Bruckner
