Clocking in for school seems obscene to me. Are teachers really getting so lazy and incompetent that they cant even take roll at the beginning of class?
I don't know yet, but they probably still will take a roll. I think the roll is just the teacher's personal record and a backup for the face recognition. After all, most teachers just call out your name and someone else could just say "Here" for you. Or else someone just tells the teacher that a student is out, they'll mark him/her as absent but it won't go into the system and nobody will know that they actually went skiving off. Also, the system records the exact time that you come in, so 3 times being late and you're on detention.
