I remember teachers just calling roll when I was there. If they were too lazy to do it, they would have their aide do it. Work...well, I've run everything from time clock/sign in/record your own hours...to a badge system that kept up with your every swipe on every doorway you were/weren't supposed to open. Nothing's 100% foolproof.
