Ecgleofu found herself at the gambling table Niel had been staring at almost immediately. If she was to be forced to wait out the storm, she might as well try to do something with her time, she decided.

Her cloak now hung off the back of a chair, and her well-tailored tunic and short-cropped hair were exposed. It seemed a rather odd combination.

"Deal me in," she said to the man shuffling the cards. "Though I warn you I find myself winning this sort of thing quite often."

That kind old lady stopped the rain for us.
She said it would only make us cold, and miserable, and sick.
We thanked her and hugged her and she walked away smiling warmly.

"Smith" looked kindly at the little girl, and thought that spending some time with her is the least thing he could do for her. He had more than once considered taking this girl into his care. However, he was only nineteen, almost twenty, and was getting the urge to move on from this town to another place...He would probably consider asking the girl about it over a good night's rest.

"Sure. I'll play with you in a bit. But are you hungry? Thirsty?" He could afford to feed the girl. After all, being the town's only actual blacksmith brought him more than enough gold to survive off of--even if he was only being a smith as a side-job for a while...

Then again, a while became three years of smithying during the day, and wandering during some nights...And that part was his best-kept secret.

Haffys, hearing the commotion, came running over with a fine looking bottle of red and two goblets. Throwing Smith a reassuring smile, he whispered "Sometimes when ye can't go on, a bottle of wine helps ye continue." Haffys glanced over to Gweneal, and smiled fondly. "and ye, princess" he paused to wipe some soot off of her face "are as bonny a lass as I ever saw."

After finishing a hand, (and wiping up the other gamblers nicely,) Ecgleofu stood and paced to the window impatiently. It was still pouring outside. She sighed, then went to Smith. "Would you mind sharing a bit of that, sir?" she asked. "I might be here a little longer than I'd bargained for."

She toyed with one of the coins she'd won off of the gamblers. She hadn't gotten much-after all, she'd been playing to pass the time, not to win anything-but the few coins had gotten she now handed over to Haffys. "Or maybe even give e something a little stronger. After all, what's the worst it can do, kill me?" Ecgleofu joked.

Haffys took the coin from Ecgleofu, making sure that their fingers touched. He brushed his foppish hair out of his eyes, and smiled. "I'd love tae hear what ye think o' the special house brew. It's a new recipe." He handed her a cool flagon with snowy, foamy, head.

Ecgleofu looked Haffys straight in the eye, purposefully ignoring the touch of his hand, and obviously so. She took the mug and tipped it back, keeping up the stare. She swirled it around her mouth, and swallowed. A smirk touched her lips.

"I think I can learn to enjoy this, maybe if I had a bit more to get used to the taste," Ecgleofu said, winking.

Being a man of straightforward metaphor, Haffys already visualized another ripe fruit falling into his hand. There was something about women who liked their beer that brought out the puppydog in him.

"Ye know, there's nowt an innkeep likes tae hear more than how tasty his ale is." He dashed off to the bar and returned with two more flagons. "Drink up lass, an' don't be shy in tellin' what ye think."

Aevalaine looked up at the celing and huffed a breath upwards to blow a strand of hair out of her face. Her eyes flitted towards Haffys, who had found a new target-the noble girl who had entered earlier, then to a man sitting at one of the tables who seemed to be stealing glances at her, and finally rested on the blacksmith playing jacks with the little girl for a few minutes. Finishing business up with Gark was taking much longer than she had anticipated (but then again people were never really in a rush to pay you). "Gark" she called out to the barkeep, with a knowing smile on her face "If you want to keep me standing here, you best be giving me a glass of something to keep me warm, and some food to fill my belly."

"What's the matter with ye? I bring yer beer, and ye grimace at me." He harrumphed. "Where are yer manners?"

"'Tastes like victory on a misty morning in the hills of Laedin,' as my father would say." Ecgleofu kissed two fingers and waved them playfully at Haffys, then tried her best to slip away with a flagon in each hand, laughing internally.

Someone's a little eager to catch the eye of a girl tonight, Ecgleofu thought. Though, I wonder if I could do the same...

She spotted Aevalaine, and sauntered over. The drink was probably already having a bit of an effect on Ecgleofu.
