Running free around the room suited Gweneal perfectly and soon it was pure excitement warmth and freedom that was propelling her about, she danced near the hearth while singing wordlessly or simple nonsense. her contentment and joy was obvious and contagious.

"Delighted tae hear it. We're proud o' the recipe." Gark leaned in closer "we changed it recently an' we think we have a good chance o' winnin' the county beer festival this year." Outside, the sky boomed with sudden thunder. The storm was not getting any better. Gark grimaced, bad weather always made his knee worse.
Gark thought about the situation. The storm raged on, producing lightening and rain enough for the whole season. Inside the Inn's main room, the remaining customers were drinking with the reassurance of people who knew they weren't going anywhere. The Golden Bear had a tradition of letting weary customers sleep next to the roaring fireplace, if they didn't have the coin for a room. The key, thought Gark to himself, is in encouraging the trapped customers to spend as much as possible.

His thoughts were interrupted by Haffys' yell to all and sundry "Anyone brave enough tae challenge me tae a game o' blind man's dance?"

"ah pet, this is a game for men!" Haffys stuck out his chest while saying this, hoping it would make him seem intimidating to the others.

Gweneals eyes fell to the floor, "oh, i cant play then" with heavy steps she wandered back to her place to finish eating her now cold meal.

Aevalaine was restless. She glanced at the drunk (drugged??) girl across from her and wondered what she was getting herself into. She took a vial out of her pouch and handed it to the girl "drink this" she commanded. That would help either way, and the girl should be clear minded. She snapped her head up when she heard "blind man's dance" being shouted by Haffys. She shrugged. "Why not?" she thought. Might be fun to beat him too...

"Aye, Haffys!" she winked at him as he turned to look at her "I'll accept yer challenge"

"Smith" looked over at the barkeep. "I want a room for two tonight!" He called out. He didn't have the patience for the old man to give him any more lip tonight. Patience was something that he seemed to be short on these days, and he was about to run out of it.

He was a bit tempted to slug the man in the face for the comment he blurted off earlier. The barkeep was playing with fire, and he nearly got burned for it earlier...

Gark harrumphed and limped over to Smith. "We'll talk after this dance is o'er."

"Clear the table" he shouted to the waitstaff. All the clutter was taken off, and the benches removed from the sides. Like a cheeky sprite, Haffys jumped on top of the table, then paused to offer a hand to Aevalaine in assistance. "Now yer on the table, will ye please take one o' these daggers and a rag tae cover yer eyes?" Ever the showman, Haffys turned to face the customers and explained the rules "First man... or woman tae draw blood wins. A fall of the table is a defeat." Turning again to Aevalaine, he whispered "I'm bettin' a secret ye'll like to know. What do ye wager in return?"

Aevalaine chuckled to herself at Haffys' bravado. She felt inexplicably confident, and purred "I'll give ye a choice: I forgive the payment yer dah owes me, or a kiss"

Haffys smiled. He was hoping she'd say something like that. This was exactly how he met his previous girlfriend. He slipped on his blindfold and gently swished the dagger to his right.
