As Aevalaine whispered back and forth with Haffys, she noticed Gweneal out of the corner of her eye, going off somewhere with one of the barmaids. She looked around for the man the little girl had been with that night (obviously not her father, for he was clean and decently groomed, and the blacksmith at that, and the girl looked like she spent most of her nights in the street). She found him whispering something angrily to Gork, and then pulling a knife out.
"Well Haffys I know you're not the serious sort but this is serious. I hope that little girl dinna go missing too!! Do yeh want that on yer shoulders?!" she hissed into his ear."Dinna go anywhere...I hope you decide to tell me more when i get back" she called over her shoulder at him as she walked away, winking, in order to play off the seriousness of her statement. She did not want to draw attention to what she was doing just yet.
She walked quickly to Ecgleofu, still at the table, and quickly whispered something in her ear.
She strode calmly up to the blacksmith and eyed him cooly. He had an angry look about him and she did not like it. She knew better than to give anything away. "Well hello there...that lass happen to be related to yeh?" she said calmly, looking him steadily in the eye-she covertly readied one of the knives she had hidden on her self-if needed it could be out in less than a second and into his gut-but he didn't need to know that just yet.

Ecgleofu vaguely remembered the girl she had spoke to in front of the Golden Bear, and wondered if it was the same one that Aevalaine was referring to now. Ecgleofu hung around behind Aevalaine a bit as she spoke to Smith, and fingered the hilt of her sword. After what she'd heard from the other woman... this might be more important than it otherwise looked like.
She wasn't afraid of a fight breaking out. What did she really have to lose by it?
That kind old lady stopped the rain for us.
She said it would only make us cold, and miserable, and sick.
We thanked her and hugged her and she walked away smiling warmly.

Gark listened intently, then slowly and shakingly moved toward Haffys. As he led him into a back room, Smith saw Gark glancing back at him and whispering into Haffys' ear. Gark was old, but had a reputation for having a good memory. There would be no doubt in Smith's mind that his warning was being repeated word for word to Haffys.

"Smith" looked at Aevalaine, and noted that she wasn't the shallow sort of person that would be found most often in this sort of place. He looked towards her, while still sharpening his knife.
No matter how much he wanted to, he couldn't get the anger out of his system.
"Erm...It seemed that the girl needs some help, so I figured I'd be the one to provide it, because I'm wealthy enough to afford it. After all, I'm the town's only blacksmith--for now."
Gark returned from the back of the inn, and hobbled onto a stool to address the room. "Ladies and Gentlemen" he yelled, his voice cracking and thin against the storm raging outside. "Ye'll be more than aware that we have some rare weather outside. It's long been the tradition o' this inn to offer hospitality as best we can." He paused, coughing and hacking up, then continued. "Tae that end, here is my offer. Ladies, there's rooms prepared for ye in the back and upstairs. They're no much, but they ought tae be comfortable. Gentlemen, we'll lay some fresh hay around the fireplace an' ye can camp in front o' the fire. Mister Smith..." At this point, Gark swallowed and looked nervous. "Mister Smith, there's a special room wi two beds made up fur ye and the little lass. It's the best room in the inn."

Ecgleofu groaned. The bed had been comfortable enough, but the headache she now had didn't do much good. She got dressed groggily, and stepped out to find Aevalaine's room. Ecgleofu knocked on it twice, hoping to get some sort of hangover cure or whatever from the woman's bag.

Aevalaine heard a knock on her door, and shot straight up in bed, her hand automatically going to the dagger on the table next to her bed. For a moment she looked around the room , shaking her head, thinking "Where am I??" Until she remembered the events of last night. Still at the inn. Although she had not drank the night before, she was exhausted and bleary eyed.
She staggered over to the door, and cracked it open, dagger in hand, and found Ecgleofu standing there. She lowered her dagger, and opened the door wider to let the girl in her room. "Mornen" she mumbled, giving the dazed looking girl a once over, "that drinkin caught up with yeh has it?" she chuckled. She motioned for her to come into the room, and rummaged through her pouch of herbs and medicine. She took out some crushed gentian, centaury, and fennel and handed it to Ecgleofu. "You can take it like that, or put it in some water-yeh need to drink some either way."
