Aevalaine tensed. On one hand, she had her suspicions about Smith. On the other, she knew that Gark had a reason to be angry other than the girl, who he had not seemed particularly concerned about the night before. She had a feeling Smith was hiding something-or many things, but she also did not trust Gark, and had a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach about him as well. But all the evidence pointed towards Smith-his actions, his words, even his demeanor.

She backed away away from Smith as she saw one of the other men approaching with a sword. She took the bow off her back, and readied an arrow on its string, pointing it towards smith.
