Thread: Why were NPC'S first made?

Default Why were NPC'S first made?

Evony said they never intended for players to farm NPC'S. So why do they have them in the first place? It seems silly to say "we put these cities full of food here but we never intended for people to want the stuff in these easy to attack cities". I guess you could say they were for being able to capture but almost no one captures anything but 10's (or 8's if your on Age 2.) I just dont get what the original point of NPC's were if they werent made to farm.

I suppose they were "practice" to learn how to hit other players.

I think they were intended to be a source of food, but i dont think 1) evony anticipated us figuring out how to hit them effectively with low losses 2) that we would surround our cities with them 3) that we would be willing to farm so many so often in order to keep up with obscene troop counts.

NPCs, were made simply to challenge players. As you can see when you click on them. Evony makes it a challenge, for us to drive them out, i.e, capture them.

It wasnt intended for us to make and farm them. Offcourse that changed in
S3, when a member of MISC alliance started farming them using Archers.

From, there a more shrewed player, noticed the range of Ballistae, and went work. Before long, they posted this new way in the forum. Once this happneded, everyone started making an farming lv.5 & 6 npc.

NOTE: LV.6 NPC didnt always have treb in them. ONce Evony noticed what player were doing, they decided to add them. They left LV.5's alone, and the rest is history.

Cool, makes you wonder if they kept farming NPCS a secret they would have ruled the game lol

That is consistant with the Level 9, which does not appeal as a harvesting target. NPC8s are not user friendly, I found as well. Some of the early wikis on NPCs had that tone, and the script it is ever players duty to drive out the barbarians is still on the NPC as I recall.

Best wishes to those who were in ICECOLD, MERC, HONOR on 131, SOLACE on 144, thePack2 on 158

    lol.
The most logical explanation to something most cannot comprehend with games is, they must be che@ters. This happens in every game i played.

The reason most players shared how it is done, is to get recognition and so that other players can pick up the phase and provide a better challenge while discovering new and improve methods =).

when did evony say that npcs weren't intended to be farmed?
    let's look at the facts:
    • as you said, they are full of food and resources
    • you can defeat lvl 1-5 without troop losses due to the lack of proper fortifications
    • when you empty the resources 8 hours later its full again
    • they have no scouts
    • all you need to do is abandon a city that has no buildings in it to create one
    • flats change levels everyday so you can build what ever level you like
    • a lvl 10 has a pathetic troop set up, with no layering
    • they never attack you back

if there was a real player that played like the npc plays...hmmm i think i'd farm him too

it saves you quite a few scripts and a lot of time
almost nobody keeps a lvl 10 for long without remodelling but it's worth the effort to get lvl 10 walls, town hall, academy, relief station, rally, feasting hall... well you get the picture
