"You know guys, I love those dragons and all, but just think, you bring in thousands of "Lords" and "Ladies", they're gonna try and slay them all. I mean, they're all the same. Owning 10 cities and being in the dominating alliance isn't gonna be enough. Especially with your Queen hanging around, they're gonna want to impress her. So, here's what I say we do. Do some renovation work. Get some builders in, and get some empty valleys set up as cities. Then get millions of those weird dudes that live in huts and wave clubs around all day going BLEAAAAARRRRGGGHHH. Get them to come and live there. Give them some food. Hey presto, you've got hundreds of little cities with people in them. Hide the dragons under the table, or under the stone at the front door...NO SANTA!! They can't come with you to the north pole! It would be too cruel, much better to let them live under a really big table....NO, I don't have a better reason, so go away."

Then we had some rum and cheese and crackers and sang some sea shanties, then did a rain dance, and went home. Ah, those were the days! Back when dragons hid under tables and barbarians went BLEAAAAAARRRRRRRGGHH!!!

That is my accurate account of why barbs were invented.

Here i was thinking that the dragons wings were just cut off and that they were sent to live in the swamps as punishment for feasting on barbarian children

Not at all. I told them to hide under the table because noone ever looks there. I mean, have you looked under the table in your capped barbarian cities? And no, don't do it now, because I told them to leave.

Don't be silly. Trolls don't exist. They were invented to cover up the existence of the table under which the dragons hide. I mean, if you are running from an invisible troll, the last thing you are going to do is start looking for dragons under tables. But that's another story.

Back then, people would find ways to cheat. Players would complain through the proper channels, and before you knew it; Evony took care of the problem.

When the forum opened, my god the flood gates opened. Evony couldnt handle the B*ing fast enough.

Red rep for this, said at one point. " Evony never counted on people farming NPCs at this rate. They also didnt count on them supporting hugh armies."

Think about it. Agell was made for people not to have hugh armies, which is why, they erase npcs after every maintance.

I think by these facts, its is safe to say, that Evony didnt count on us being farmers.
What would you know of "when the forums opened" if you only joined last year? The forums were opened during beta testing (S1 -S3) to discuss issues and develop a knowledge of how the game played. I joined the game on server 5 when it first opened, very shortly after the game went live.

Food requirements were less and ballista's pwned everything. The first major conflict in the forums was when a major patch was released (without notice) that nerfed ballista's by adding range bonuses to wall levels and increasing food requirements for large standing armies. Many players lost 10,000 or more ballistas in a single attack, many of them, just after the maintenance downtime that installed the patch.

Those were different times for this game. It was prone to server downtime and glitches and bugs that kept the community angry and the developers scrambling for a way to 'fix' the game without allienating every player. The current (AgeI) mechanism is a compromise of patches on patches and really doesn't resemble the early game very much at all. NPC fields started appearing early on and it was mostly a defensive tactic to block the enemy porting in. Food and resource requirements were the reasons NPC's got farmed and how-to information was shared among alliances first and the forums later.

    I was there.

The prestige glitch came to light after the nerf patch by about a month or two. The exploiters might have been exploiting it quietly for longer but that's when it was reported via the forums and the exploiters lost all prestige. There were some sore posteriors but that was just from cheats, so nobody cared.

I would just like to say that in age 2 your army doesn't refuge.
So really when it gets to a point where age 2 has been out as long as age 1 has the armies are going to be HUGE.
Age I players can build faster but they can't maintain their growth rate. They eventually reach a point at which they have to stop and just farm and rebuild losses. Age 2 players build much slower but they don't stop troop count just goes up and up unless you suicide all you build on npcs and players daily. Also not sure what prestige glitch you guys are talking about but back in the day my eyes almost popped out of my head when I heard Arctic on S2 (I think) had 15mil pres. So in those days small prestige amounts were considered impossibly huge.
It was a simpler time back then.
Also I find it hard to believe that the glitches/bots/problems etc in evony are the fault of the forums.
The forums represent a minor amount of the players that play evony so its hardly fair to say that we are the cause of the problems.

You were pointing out something you think to be true, not a fact.
Other than that I just saw that what you were saying was incorrect and corrected you.
I didn't think your post was a criticism.
