Avatars are purely cosmetic value and have no effect on the game. Therefore I imagine, when putting together a game with a theme faithful to medieval Europe yet still with interactive game mechanics, pretty pictures were very low on Evony's priority list compared to other things (IE; the ability to move cities).
Yeah, I knew that, it's why I tried to convey my semi-seriousness with a smiley at the end of the my point. They could still include the ethnically diverse avatars in my opinion. It's not like the players are going to care that Evony didn't strictly adhere to its medieval theme. They care more about having their own race included than keeping it historically accurate.
