Thread: Smaller Armies........Bad/Good/Neutral

Hybrid View

  1. Default Smaller Armies........Bad/Good/Neutral

This is meant for age1, keep in mind I dont wish for these things to be implimented. But could work with it, and I wouldnt be bent out of shape by it.

    1. What if we had a variable food cost for building troops (im using archers in my examples)
-The more troops you have of a certain unit the more food it costs to build each one.
-0-50k cost the base amount of food (300) each
    -50001-100k cost 600 each
    -100001-150k cost 1200 each
    -150001-200k cost 2400 each
-You can see how it migh get very expensive, to build even a lower class unit such as archers, very quickly
-So between the higher food price of troops as your armies grow and the upkeep for them you will have a much harder time making the rediculous amounts of troops that people are currently doing.

    2. We could completely throw out the honor system. Link the heal rate directly to your troop #s rather than honor.
-Lets say you have a total of 100k troops or less, you still get your 50% heal rate.
-Lets say you have 100001-200k troops, you now have a 40% heal rate
-By the time you have 500k troops+ you only get a 10% heal rate
-This may keep people from wanting such large armies, b/c you wont be able to send a couple warrior bombs to rid your honor for your big cav or mech attack.

3rd You now have 10 slots for holding your valleys per city, we could add another tab where you can have built npcs per cities.
-If you have a lvl 1 th you can build 1 npc with that city (if the npc is capped then you can build another)
-If you have a lvl 10 th you can build 10 npcs with that city
-If you abandon the city you have made npcs with, all those npcs you build get turned back into flats to prevent people from making many lvl 9 ths and 9 nps then abandon for 1 more npc.
-this will not only help prevent the players who dedicate there lives to farming from farming, but will also help the servers from being swamped with npcs in the later part of the servers.

If these things happened I feel that it would lower people armies sizes significantly, while still keeping the same ratio of the advantage that people, who spend and/or spend lots of time on here, have.

And lets face it, being forced to work with fewer #s would create some cool strategies and not let people rely so much on brute force to destroy people. It could give age1 the facelift it needs.

    Post your thoughts.

I have yet to see a burn out that rivals the Skyline

i think this would cause people to farm even MORE, if you are on SS's ive seen people with over 10 bil food per city so this would encourage more farming IMO

imo this would cause even more alt accounts to make npcs for the main accounts

With a variable food cost, once you reach a certain point you honestly could not build any troops...................I cant see people trying to build troops past the point when it costs 1m food for a archer, for example. So farming your life away would only help till you hit that point. But my idea wasnt to get people to stop farming so much, just to lower army sizes while keeping the advantage farmers and spenders had, at the same ratio. In this idea I feel the advantage is still intact.

Didnt think of that...................If evony actually enforced their rules, alt accounts would not exist, or at least not be sooooo ungodfuly common.
But this idea would also take away the advantage, people who farm alot have................so maybe i scratch this idea...............Well maybe not, the people who farm alot typically have many cities...........so if they have many cities then they get to build more npcs than people who dont have many cities. so there is still an advantage but i dont feel the advantage ratio is the same i feel with this idea the advantage ratio is cut nearly in half.

Just thinking while i type on this post.

maybe if you had player owned NPC's [like you can OWN then with you name on them and everything], other people could attack YOUR npc's but it would show as them attacking one of your valleys, and maybe you are restricted somehow when farming other players npcs, what i meant by attacking your npcs is capping them to get close to you. could come to be a good idea if some of the programmers actually looked and considered threads on this forums, but no offense attended, seems like the people who made evony dont ever even look at these suggestions

would be VERY cool if they added some more things to do in age 1 instead of only upgrading age 2 servers. i know they have made some small improvements to bugs and such but nothing other than that except a hammer... which is on NO use to players on older servers where they dont need to build? lol but good try hope evony makes another buck off it

how about some level 12 and high npc's implemented in age 1, making things WAY more interesting
just thinking out loud sorry for going off subject Skyline

This would favor people with Instant heroes way too much, the more instant the better. The huge coiners would gain an other huge advantage.

The other ideas, way to complicated imho.

I dont see where this would favor people with instant heros............pls elaborate............well i could see where they could keep smaller amounts of troops (for the better heal rate) for defences...........and larger amount of troops on attacks, i guess that could help them a bit...........but honestly it wouldnt give them much more of an advantage than they already have. and with the smaller army sizes 50% of 1 mil is way smaller than 50% of 5mil

They could be done, ive seen many games with variable costs for things............and to limit each city on building npcs wouldnt be that complicated either.

Small armies I like big armies, I also like no troop upkeep, but how to make it a practical business decision for evony. How about putting a category in the store for 1k hours of no troop upkeep for 50 coin. ($4 a month) Low enough to sell in volume month to month. This would be revenue for evony and sanity for those that spend hours a day just farming. They could make it so that Qing up troops would cost double recourses while in no upkeep status so their would be still need to be some farming for initial troop production, medals, hero xp, etc. but a lot less intensive. And less need for a BOT company to run a second account because they use the BOTs basicly for food gathering to support their current troops. People would still need to be online multiple times daily to run defenses, Q troops, and coordinate with alliance to attack. Rather than going on-line and take 20 - 30 minutes sending out farm units, then sign off because of other things to do and not have time to play war. I'm getting burned out playing farmvillevony. People would now be able to buy teleports and teleport to an enemy rather than stay in one spot because that is where all your farming area is and you need to feed your army rather then play war. As for big armies, everyone would have big armies, and they can be broke also. I was off-line for 6-7 hours recently and lost a city with a large hero and nearly 3 million men under the current rules, so it can be done. Farmvillevony

how about all the noobs stop making stupid alternatives to the game. get over the fact that we have larger armies. and if evony actually did this plan they would lose 90% of the players. so f that.
    im better than you
