What makes a good host is simple, someone who cares about their team, someone who lays out the rules and expectations clearly and makes sure they are followed through.

    The following destroys an alliance:

    1) Drama- all personal issues shouod be kept off alliance chat. If it cant be resolved the peopl einvolved should just ignore eachother and pretend to be mature adults
    2) Not being prepared to be invaded. All cities should be war ready at all times with proper defences set in place. Nothing is more demoralizing then to see city after city get cleared.
    3) Too much diplo- What is the point in playing if you are surrounded by blues. A home state should belong to you and you alone. If someones in there, kick them out.
    4) A lack of respect and communication- Your team becomes your friends, they are not your subordinates, you simply are the one to keep things organised. Remember that and keep in mind to keep everyones voices important
    5) Alts and botting- ruins the game and puts your team at risk for being permabanned and that just is a weakness.
    6) People not taking a care or awareness of whats going on around them- everyone should hover over WRs and have troops to rein a friend, inactive accts should be booted b/c they are a liability. ranking and quanitity never matter, it's all about the quality of your players and how well you work together. Being in every single state is just making it so it's impossible to defend from attack
    7) too many rules- if you have too many rules and it's not fun eventually people will find a better alliance

At the end of the day it's just knowing your members and knowing what they enjoy and not making decisions that will make them unhappy.
    ___

I'm not perfect at all of these things, but if you can get most of those your alliance will be fine. Anything else is just extra nonsense. Yeah good grammar is helpful for having people take you seriously, but it's not note worthy or essential.
I don't think I have ever heard this said better. Too many times a Host thinks that the players in their alliance are their little worker bees, talking down to them and taking every part of the game seriously. Some things in this game DO NOT need to be micro-managed and a good host should either develop a strong supporting cast that can handle the everyday events without the host making every decision.

A host can't get worked up over small issues within the alliance either. Disagreements are part of decision-making and compromises should be made instead of the host just saying "this is how it is". If more hosts knew how to keep things laid back even in tough situations, they would find a much happier alliance.

I think that sometimes hosts get confused about diplomacy and the duties of diplomatic officers. Luckily, there's a guide for that! http://bbs.evony.com/showthread.php?...59#post1351159

Being a host is easy just follow 3 simple steps,

    1. Click your embassy and create alliance (remember to make the name as pretentious and offensive as possible).
    2. War dec the entire server.
    3. Before you recruit anybody ask them the int required to defense cap rams, if they don't know spend the next 4 hours explaining to them in exquisite detail why they are bad.

I think what makes a good host in first place is: he is arround - not in holiday for weeks.

He should know about the game and not giving false advice in attack or defence questions.

He should be good in handle tough situations specially diplo stuff and not bringing his alliance into big trouble cause he is ego tripping or has false pride

he should keep in mind this is a game and have fun with his team while playing the game

oh and i like when a host is active and not just claim he cant send out an attack or kill a red cause he is too bussy with leading his alliance....
