8.9 Earthquake hits Japan

I don't think the images on TV are doing justice to this quake. I don't think people realize how HUGE an 8.9 is.

That big earthquake that hit San Francisco in 1989 during the World Series was 6.9 on the scale. It destroyed entire neighborhoods and collapsed highways.
The 1906 "The Big One" that completely destroyed all of San francisco is estimated to have been between 7.9 and 8.2

8.9 is absolutely HUGE. As we learn more about what has happened this day, I fear the news is going to get far worse before it gets better.

Yes, I agree completely. I feel and pray for all the victims, and also for those who are in potential danger. Also, as Rota said, 8.9 is massive, but I've seen videos of the tsunami. Utterly destructive.
