    Default SuperMoon

So I have come across this article and would like to know what everyone thinks about this.

On March 19th The moon, is believed to come closer to earth, more than it has in 18 years. Its closeness to earth may cause disasters. Now, our lessons in Geography have taught us that moon's elliptical journey around earth lead to the cyclical tides in the ocean. With the moon on that day coming as close as 356,577 kilometers to earth; more than just 'cyclical tides' can be expected. Earthquakes, storms, intense tidal activity are some of the probable disasters that the impending 'SuperMoon' or lunar perigee may trigger.

However, like it happens with every speculated claim, this one hasn't proved to be an exception either. Astronomers, scientists, scholars in this subject have all smirked at Nolle's claim. Apparently, Nolle?s claim holds no water. SuperMoons are as common as eclipses, they argued.

We'd all like to believe that the SuperMoon just makes for a surreal experience, a rare spectacle. But, it remains to be seen if it's indeed Supermoon or SuperDoom!

I saw it while you were at the beach the other day:

Anyway, more on-topic...did anything major happen 18 years ago when this occurred? (An event that was actually attributed to the SuperMoon, in full or in part, because major events can happen during the course of any year.)

The moon moving near the Earth is just another of the cosmic cycles.
Although this cycle will likely end at the point when the moon comes close enough that it will simply be drawn onward until it impacts with Earth.

I thought the moon was actually very gradually drifting farther away from Earth.
    It's all Rodri's fault.

Seems we are actually doomed after all well this does explain the floods, the quakes, the fires, the droughts, etc and so forth, that are seeming to pile up lately. Although it tends to be based on the Rim of fire anyone ever noticed that? So if my hypothesis is correct Ill be one of the first to go!

No, actually, that's completely and idiotically wrong.
The Rim of Fire is an area of many overlapping tectonic plates. That means that it is highly prone to Earthquakes, and a powerful earthquake is likely to cause a tidal wave or a flood. The moon has little to do with that.
As for the drought, thats just another of life's cycles. Albeit a chaotic cycle, but still a cycle nonetheless.

The moon, if I read correctly, will be 90% closer to Earth than normal.

A large increase in Warewolf sightings are suspected.
