the recent earthquakes in new zealand and japan got me thinking
you see it's accepted science that the earth has plates
these plates are tight against each other and the seams fit together like a jigsaw puzzle
the plates are shifting and when there is a sudden shift... there is an earthquake
the sudden shifts are mainly attributed to the plates being jammed together with pressure beneath
the rough surfaces of the two plates and the associated friction hold until the pressure reaches a point to break the bond
the fault lines near the west coast of the americas in the pacific are the most active
i've heard theories that state that the plates are constantly moving and the shifting causes constant earthquakes, most of these nearly undetectable
now we reach the reason for my post
the theory that i'd like to discuss is pangaea
pangaea is supposedly the original land mass of the earth about 250-300million years ago
the plates are supposedly carrying the continents around the earth
for me this theory works
it really explains a lot as far as the flora and fauna of the various continents
you see i don't believe in evolution, i do believe in natural selection which is very different than evolution
so the first question would be, do you think this is a valid theory?
the challenge is to give some good examples of scientific mysteries this could explain
