I saw a movie on OPB (public broadcasting) when I lived in Oregon 3-4 years ago.
I don't remember anything about it except for snippets of the plot. No actors, no director, no character names, no location, nothing. It was an Asian movie with English subtitles. I believe it was Japanese...but I was probably drunk and likely ignorant when I saw it and very easily could be Chinese or Korean, but I really think it was Japanese.
Main character was a late teens/early 20s male. The movie is about his descent into depression/isolation. He was a singer or guitarist in a semi popular rock band, had like one minor hit and made a few bucks but nothing super famous. The band had all moved into an apartment together, started doing drugs, kinda trashing the place. Main character starts to grow distant, speaking less and spending most of his time either getting high or alone in his bedroom. Band falls apart, but one guy and his girlfriend still live there with the main character. It's all awkward and they get into arguments and the main character continues to isolate himself.
Eventually he moves back into his parents' small apartment. There's a grandmother there, I think, and a younger brother or sister. He stays in his room most of the time, only coming out to eat meals with his family that typically end in arguments. There is a small scene about him growing a minor obsession over John Lennon, and cutting his hair and wearing sunglasses to look more like him. The last scene I remember, his father starts to take him out of the house for walks in the park and they buy two cans of beer and sit in the grass.
I don't have any specifics to go with so I haven't been able to find anything myself on the Internet. I posted this here because...well, no one really goes to the entertainment section and this topic is off-topic so it doesn't need to get moved to the entertainment section. But in order to make this more off-topic, has anyone seen Welcome to Woop Woop? Rodri? Digger? Did you find it amusing? I laughed my ass off the first time I saw it.
