(Cant remember the term for what a Jaq attack means, forgive me I just started playing after I quit last January). Archer waves in Age I are pretty simple. They usually (Unless a just retarded player) consist of a layer such as war/pike/sword/scout/archer. You simply do the same(LAYER, you dont have to do it heavily as you have no traps to lose your layers by).
SCOUT BOMBS:My first account was pretty much dismantled by these things. Theres a thing called accumulated attack. SO Stating this a Warrior has 50 ATTACK and an Archer has 120 Attack. So say I have 50 archers I have 6000 Accumulated Attack in my Archer Layer. So say I have 50 Warriors I have 2500 Accumulated Attack in my Warrior layer. Now, when you send a scout bomb or recieve one the scouts go after the layer with the MOST Accumulated attack. So you want to run a 3:1 ratio on your Warrior to Archers ratio. I prefferred a 4:1 to even a 5:1 ratio on my later servers.
JAQ ATTACKS If I remember correctly I think these are Cav/Cat Attacks. These are quite simple. DONT LOSE YOUR range setters AND DONT LOSE YOUR LAYERS.
Mech Attacks I have never faced nor sent these attacks but, from what I read its really quite simple to defend againest a Ram Attack. Stack Layers and Archers/Catapults/Ballista. When facing Ballista/Catapult waves you have to have your layers and about 1:6 the number of Ballista/Cat to Archer.
Hope I cleared this up for you.
