i dont think it is a problem, its like each countries has a mind of their own, like everyone agrees to what their own countries thinks. lol its hard to say when words arent coming to my mind.

like the US, US needs oil more than any other countries so they will teach their own version of history mostly or somehow related to oil. its more like regional versions, some countries needs salts and will teach their versions related to it somehow.

im not exactly sure how it is related to your question but i hope you understand what im trying to say.

    Here's my thoughts on it:

Everything is a skewed perspective, particularly when talking about history. Unless you were there, you don't know exactly how it happened and even if you were there you only saw it from your perspective.

Every culture is going to have a different perspective and people within the same culture are going to have different perspectives.

There are people in other countries were people are taught that the holocaust never happened, that it was a hoax.
There are countries where certain reading materials about history are banned.

Looking at history Americans (i'm American btw) we're never really supportive of Vietnam, they spit on and cursed at our soldiers when they came home.

If you look at before the revolutionary war, we took this land from the native americans - in that we're we the righteous or were the people who stole there land? Obviously the later by the how the government has given some land back to the native americans but that will never make it right or fair.

With the revolutionary war, we're we the righteous to claim our freedom from the british oppressors or we're we just rebelling?

There are at least two sides to every story, usually far more then just two sides.

With WWI - more than just one country was to blame for the start of the war, and it was hidden alliances that turned it into a world war. But at the end of the war the people who were beaten were the ones to blame.

All comes back to perspective - Welcome to the world of gray.

"Those who fail to learn history
    are doomed to repeat it;
those who fail to learn history correctly--
    why they are simply doomed."

    "Here's everything I know
    about war: Somebody wins,
    somebody loses, and
nothing is ever the same again."

    "Any fool can be honest,
for it is only what he knows.
A wise man is aware of
    when to share the truth."

Where wars are concerned none of us will ever know the full truth, as our leaders will never divulge the whole truth to us, for obvious reasons.

As long as these histories include things such as who was in the right and who was wrong, they should not be continued to be taught.

Was what the Nazi's did bad? Nearly everyone will say yes. Of course you'll say yes. Because that's how you've been raised, based off history, based off everything in your life. But, as it has been stated before, would it have been bad if Germany had won? Would have "the cleansing" still been a horrible act? Or would it be one of the greatest acts in history?

Eventually anyone who said it was a horrible act would have been removed from the population. Eventually any ideas that it was bad will die out. It will become a universally good thing.

But we'll never see if this is possible. We'll never see a large part of society that actively supports what the Nazi's did, and even if we did, they'd be relentlessly tormented by the rest. Hell, I would.

I don't think so, even in Nazi Germany there were people who spoke out against it and sympathized with the jewish. There were people who didn't believe it was right but didn't know how to act against it. There still would have been Freedom fighters. And even if germany won, the people who believed it was wrong would have found ways to pass it on to there children. That is my belief..

In high school I took german for 3 years. We had two exchange students. Now i don't know about the WWI thing. However I do know that because of WWII they are very reluctant to show national pride. They don't like to wave there flag like we in America do.

They are more humble as a nation now because of what went on in WWII and how the world reacted.

At least that's what i was told...

Germany only had people who spoke out because it couldn't commit 100% to eliminating them. Once all wars were over and the world was under the control of Germany, then do you honestly think they would have lasted? No where to run, no where to hide. Passing on to children? Those children would have been eliminated too.

These people weren't the Huns and the Mongols. Hitler wouldn't have survived forever even if he hadn't taken the poison. There is every chance that the people there in power after him would have conscience. It's just speculation of course because Germany lost and I for one am thankful that we never have to find out if they would have or not..

One of my good friends from back in high school was a German exchange student and I asked her a question about how the people were reacting to the Holocaust. She very simply told me that I would be surprised at how many people had no idea about what was going on. Whether to take this as truth or not is up in the air.

I seriously doubt however that any country that committed such an atrocity would be bereft of people against it.
