Guys, try to eat chocolate from companies that don't participate in chocolate slavery in West Africa. Hershey's and Nestle have never denied buying their cocoa from plantations operated by slaves in countries like Mali. The slaves are often children sold by their parents, or else kidnapped and forced to work.

The nicest chocolate I ate in the past year was a bar of plain chocolate with crystallized pear pieces. Really nice mmmmmmmmmmmm

I definitely agree that Nestle are the worst out of all the major chocolate companies for slavery and such. The largest producer (globally) of chocolate is Cadburys. They have a 45 percent share of the market. They do obtain their cocoa beans from Ghana in West Africa but they have the Fairtrade symbol on their bars so they aren't so bad in my opinion. (I say this while assuming that Fairtrade is credible and not just an attempt to "greenwash" us.) The second largest is Mars. I'm not so sure about them. They say things about how they support the cocoa farmers but I have my doubts. I don't know much about Hersheys but it's safe to say the chocolate industry as a whole is built on slavery, colonisation and capitalism.

On a lighter note, my favourite bar would have to be a Dairy Milk, closely followed by a Mars bar and a Galaxy bar.
