Thread: Cannot Connect to the server on my PC. - Primus Internet

Default Cannot Connect to the server on my PC. - Primus Internet

I have been unable to connect from my Primus Internet. Every time i attempt to connect it gives me an error that it cannot connect to the Server. Both my PC and my Laptop give the same error "Network connection error. Please refresh your page and try again." Both the PC and Laptop are connected to the same internet connection through Primus.

I have attempted to remove my Router, Restart my router, Restart my Modem, Cleared all of my Caches, deleted Temp files, turned off my Antivirus, turned off my firewall, tried several browsers, yet nothing works. I have also logged onto the game from other PCs just fine on other internet connections. I also plugged my PC and Laptop into my brother-in-laws internet connection, and was able to run the game with no error.

I have read that it is possible to be blocked by the game itself. Because of this I asked for help from the Help request section on the Evony website. I posted the exact information I have above here, and still received the cooker cutter response telling me to try the steps that I had already tried as if the reader didnt even bother to read my message...

Since then I contacted my ISP, and they attempted several different things. 45min on the phone, we changed my IP address, my DNS servers, etc. And still nothing works. Now I know that the week prior to this happening, I kept having internet issues while playing. My internet would literally reset like every 10minutes and I would have to hard restart my Modem. Is it at all possible that I had the MAC Address of my Modem banned by the game servers? If not, what can I possibly try??

I cant keep using my brother-in-law's PC, Id like to use my own... Please help me.

I too have this same kind of problem with AGE1 and AGEII from my provider
If I go to my neighbors house I am able to connect, Login and Play.
I have tried Linux live CD s (Ubuntu and Puppy Linux) ,OSX and XP with no luck
Called up my TEch support for my provider. (reset computer, reset modems, speed test (3.4 Mbits/s OK),ping test (successful), tracert wn1.evony.com (ok), from PING got IP address of wn1.evony.com and pasted that in http://64.156.194.8/ now the error says 'Server Undergoing Maintenance' so Now what try to find the address of your server and putting that in the browser and see if it gives you the same message!

I would like to know who do I need to report this to, to resolve this issue!
    smarts

I too am a PRIMUS user for ISP

My neighbor has IPS account with BELL (canada) in Montreal!
and we are able to connect!
Maybe the IP s from PRIMUS are being BLOCKED

When I put the Naked IP into the browser I get :Server undergoing Maintenance:

    Default Same problem

    Hi;

I have the same problem using Primus (formerly Magma) and it started April 5. I get the network connection error constantly since that time. I use a laptop and can log in anywhere else but not using the magma/primus connection.

While there are only a couple posts here indicating the problem I am beginning to conclude that either Primus or evony is blocking each other.

I will try to follow up with Primus. I have asked evony quite a few times about this and seem to be getting no where.

I hope someone has some suggestions?

    Thanks.

    Kia

This is exactly what has happened to on the same dates as you. Evony gave me the generic replies to my service requests. On the third service request I asked them not to send the generic reply to fix this as it does not work... They never replied at all..lol go figure.

After about an hour on the phone with my ISP we have come to the conclusion that evony has blocked Primus IP addresses. This makes sense as we can connect on other ISP's with out any problems. I can log into sever 146 but nothing else. Can you log into other servers?

You can use a proxy or VPN service to connect to your server of choice with no hassle. I am currently doing it to maintain my account. Its a pain, but idiot me put money into a free game and I am looking into opening a paypal dispute to get my money back as evony has denied me access to somthing I have paid for.

If you have found a solution please let us know.

Also PM me if you need info on the VPN tunnel.

My situation is similiar yet different being I am unable to connect to the new srvr s152 at all. I was allowed to start an acct. This took no less than 23 hrs and 45 minutes.

Since starting my acct. there I have been unable to log in. This failure is probably nothing to do with my pos equipment or connection because I have no problem connecting to an older server.

I will only speculate because I am very familiar with generic messaging.
Evony has oversold themselves.I mean that there bandwith can not support what they have advertised. Though this may be beyond any human error other than attempting to maximise use of their available srvrs. I ask is it fair to folks that have purchased coin in an attempt to boost their development? In my case I have lost valuable Game time. Short of spending to regain what is lost,I am sol. Perhaps a poor marketing scheme, but I think not.

Good luck to those seeking to solve the mystery of "the elusive srvrs."

Hey folks, been reading through the thread and talking with some of our server staff.

We'd like to get to the bottom of the Primus related issues, so if you'd like to help us gather data, please send me a PM.

    Thanks.

    Default contacting Primus

Hello, I'm one of our system administrators.

First off, thanks for the information everyone has been posting about these problems and thanks to those who responded off-thread to davemata with some other traceroutes.

It looks like Primus is blocking traffic to one of our datacenters, while traffic to the other is being allowed. Traceroutes datamata received off-thread show traffic being blocked at a Primus router. I contacted Primus last week, but had not yet received a response, so I followed up earlier tonight. I have now received a response from Primus saying the questions and traceroutes will be forwarded over to the networking group.

    Default Curiosity

I've been watching this thread and another in General Discussion, and I can appreciate how one might think the ISP, in this instance, Primus, is blocking IPs.

Why I think they're pursuing the idea that Primus has blocked some IPs, is that the problems being reported so far have all been over in a completely different IP schema, 208.88.18.xxx.

The only issue I have here is that download1.evony.com is 208.88.16.114. The server download1 is used for all servers. For Age II, it is age2download.evony.com.

The odds of the local ISP blocking specifically the 208.88.18.xxx addresses while leaving the 208.88.16.xxx addresses open is possible, but low.

The thing about firewalls, which routers are firewalls, is that they can sit at any point along the connection pathway. I find it a lot more likely that there's a firewall that is controlled by Evony, its' colocation provider, or the ISP servicing the connection to the devices in the 208.88.18.xxx range that has an inbound TCP block ruleset that has the Primus IPs in it.

So, could anyone that's a Primus user that is having a problem please state what servers you can and cannot access? Feel free to try various servers, even if you don't normally play on them. Just make sure to do a Restart Game on those servers that you don't normally play.

    Default definitely on Primus side

tracert output for 208.88.18.0/24 stops inside the Primus network and tracert output for 64.156.194.0/24 continues through the same router that blocked traffic to 208.88.18.0/24.

In all cases we have thus far, the problem is at the edge of the Primus network in Toronto. I'll gladly fly up to Toronto to investigate .

Primus has sufficient data to determine what's going on on their network and with their connections.

I agree it could seem unlikely that Primus is blocking 208.88.18.0/24, but not blocking 208.88.16.0/24. Despite being close, though, they are two different networks. We don't have data, so will have to ask for traceroutes to 208.88.16.114.

In any case, most of our flash client downloads actually take place via CDN magic and don't actually hit our download server, so it's possible that 208.88.16.0/24 could be blocked yet age2download.evony.com would appear to work.

We haven't yet found such a rule on our side, but we'll keep looking until this problem is resolved. It is in our best interest for you to be able to reach our gameservers .

Thus far problems from Primus have been with 208.88.18.0/24 and our other address ranges have been fine. We have some other problems on our side, but I'm certain there's an issue on the Primus side. It might be at or directly after a hand-off rather than at Primus, but it's on that side.

Thanks for your help and suggestions. I had already evaluated the tracert output, but reviewed it again specifically looking at the points you mentioned.
