    Default Calling All Reptile Keepers!

    Long story shortened.

Ive kept reptiles in the past (Berdies, CWD, Maddy day geckos, Corns)
After i broke up with my ex we spilt them all sold the corn and i kept the CDW. This little boy was my baby. After spending ?500 on vets bills and ?500 on his actual tank making it perfect he was almost like a child to me. Unfortunatley he passed away almost a year ago.
My intrest in reptiles was lost after that. Apart from snakes. I still love those things!
Anyway i digress. So at work i have a small reptile section. and yesterday we got some 5 week old pink tongue skinks in and omfg those things are cute. And they are also the first reptile to grab my full attention and make me fall in love and concider buying one.

Now we have them set up fine at work, But the information i am gathering on them is all conflicting no1 seems to advise the same care.

Any one out there have any good idea of what Long term set up they will require if i went ahead and bought one.

Bedding, I was going to use forest bedding, and get a 4ft glass tank!? Advice?? I was opting for glass and i dont want to spend 100s on a wooden on for it it bow as soon as i spray it once lol.

This is one of the little guys, photo taken today, They are 5 weeks old!

    awwwwwwwwh!

i had the same hiding cage for my snake

go to the pet suppy store you either go now to or use to go to. in the back of the bedding it will say which types of bedding isnt safe for your rep. After gathering the ones that are safe i suggest getting 1 that is easy for the rep to move and hide in. Usually the softer yellow ones. Also dont get heating rocks as they actually only warm 1 spot and that spot gets very hot, burning them. Get a heating pad to put under the largest hiding spot. But dont put it in the middle. If it gets to hot the rep will need a cool spot. Place the waterfall which is what i used or a simple water bowl that looks like bark (yes i like it to look realistic) in the cool near the middle. And a heating lap will go over it. Dont get the full length laps for same reason as putting pad on 1 side. The lap will cause the water to evaporate which will raise humidity which is good for the rep.

ummm i think i went on and on and on....

anyways great to hear ur into reps again

Lol, I know how to set the tank basics up Proddy, lol you know how many reps ive had in the past. I was wondering if anyone had and advice on these guys as they dont seem that common, its the first time ive come across them.
Due to this, they generally are not listed on the back of the packing, plus they say any thing on the back to sell their products when sometimes newspapers just as good
If im gunna do it i wanna do it properly. make sure its all spot on.

Coco peat would work best i think? At least that's what my friend seems to prefer if he needs a pretty humid bedding.

Don't pink tongues eat snails btw?

A new study shows licking a frog can cure depression.
Down side is, soon as you stop, the frog get depressed again.
