Hi MorganI thought I'll open the floor & create a thread on what you think Evony should consider when they decide which servers get merged. Currently Evony takes into account the servers activity & cash flow. There may be more criteria but presently they escape me. Feel free to add them if anyone knows what they are.
We could also discuss the pro and cons of mergers. Whether they improve the game play or not.
I have a few suggestions this follows from my last post so my apologies if I'm repeating myself.
I'd suggest Evony factor war report numbers into their consideration of server activity - specifically the WR of the top 10 alliances by prestige on a server. From experience that's a very clear guide to the level of activity in an alliance. I'd also suggest that more transparency and openness about how decisions are made at Evony Head office might reduce the whining and even win back some trust in the guys who run Evony.
IMHO Server Mergers should be an essential part of the plan for any server. At the moment on SS1 players are housekeeping, quitting or going into long term holiday mode. The last of those is the worst in a way. Today one of our largest, most aggressive and skilled players put his acct into HM 'until the server is merged'. There is simply nothing for him to do at this stage in the game. No challenges, other than farm and maintain his troop numbers - much easier to put the acct on holiday and wait for word of something interesting happening. Of course Evony earn from that, so if income is the deciding factor the coins he still buys and his HM fee counts against change/merger - although he is not playing.
Personally, I'd prefer a list of dates when servers will be merged, regardless of the condition of or state of play on the server. That would eliminate the stories and assumptions about how and why Evony decide to merge servers. Just set a date and stick with it, and let players know the timetable so they can work towards it and can't argue with it. Evony has no 'end game' it was built that way, so IMHO the game would benefit from that sort of structure AND it would eliminate the constant carping on the forums which seems to imply Evony either don't have a plan or take action whimsically, when the mood takes them.
Someone suggested that larger alliances should be gathered into one server. That seems like a decent idea to me, although difficult to put into practice. It would be great to be active on a server where, say, 30 or more large/powerful alliances faced off against each other with the intention of fighting for dominance!
As things stand many of us play on mature servers where dominance is very well established and the game has become stale. Wouldn't it be great if Evony would clean house regularly and offer their players real seasonal campaigns on fresh uncluttered servers.
