No sounds like evony is run by a bunch of guys that cant multi-task. I don't see how it would be hard to give people their own roles like,
Hey you, you're going to work on the server merges group
And you, you're going to the glitches group
What if they dont have enough employees to operate like this and adding employees would blow there profit margins? They are operating like a text book cash cow buisness should.
Evony not having enough employees for that sounds a little silly I think. Lets say they have 20 employees TOTAL (yea.. right) we'll set aside 10 for administrative purposes like Thalin, Dave, Dawn and any others we probably don't know. That would leave around 10 people who work on development and Technical stuff. That's 10 people working on 1 issues... why on earth??? It would make much more sense to give people their own tasks to work on
The fact that it takes them months to fix glitches and other issues on servers sounds like they need better IT people working for them.
Agreed it should not take nearly as long to fix these glitches, especially when they arent devolping any new aspects for the game, and by eliminating certain gitches that worked in the players favour promptly they do have the potential to be moe prompt
To get back on topic, I think merges are good for servers. The idea of having a set schedule for merges is actually a great one. I don't mean like server so and so HAVE to merge on this date. But, like the other poster said, servers so and so would come up to qualify for a server merge.
I'm kinda mixed on this ... on one hand yes knowing when servers are gonna merge would be helpful, but would affect gameplay as in alliances using it for diplo purposes. I would maybe suggest them ball parking the merge, as in them saying that a merge will happen between month x and month y, this will still affect gameplay but maybe not to th same extent.
There shouldn't be this long of a time with no server merges because I'm sure there are servers that need merges and servers that are dead (like ss48 for instance )
Define dead lol ... I think at this point in time most are dead and a merge would not help this much in the long run, as people will quit either at the merge or sortly after the question for evony is will they make more money by merging the servers, or will they make more by not undergoing the expense of merging a server and just milking the holiday players. Also I suspect that the amount of money a server spends is averaged out on a monthly basis, once a server falls below this amount a merge may be considered. As for assuming that the server is dead beause of no merge? I think that many use not having a merge as a reason to quit, but I would think that many would quit merge or no merge, thats the problem with games like evony they do get boring after a while
When I say dead, I mean players quitting because of boredom and active players fighting boring wars that just end up in holi/tru/port. Now yes, people are going to quit because of boredom regardless of having a merge or not (real life issues, just pure boredom, etc.) But, that will still leave a server with just more dead accounts. I do see merges as a solution long term, Obviously 1 merge is not going to help in long term but when your constantly merging it brings new people together on a new server who are on the same level playing field (because I certainly don't mean JP's crazy idea). Had evony NEVER done merges imagine what your orginal server would be like (yes deader than dead)
if evony IS holding off on merges to fix the issues they're having with other server's than that just seems like bad organization skills, They shouldn't (at least I think) put all their manpower on that one issue (Ever heard of that saying don't put all your eggs in one basket?[don't know if that analogy fits but too bad!])
See above cash cow statment
anddd I think I'm done now as I can't find anything else to rant about
Phew ... is it sad that I actually took the time to type all that up?
