The only reason why the big cheat is not being used on AgeI is because there is no real money to be made there. AgeII does have an ignore option but I doubt if the code is shared with the earlier product (AgeI). Adding it would require modifications to various things including graphics and command prompts I guess, which is why AgeI doesn't have it. Although AgeII has the same basic game engine, the modifications are numerous and re-writing existing code can cause more problems than it's worth. This is why I don't think you will see that option in AgeI any time soon.

Unfortunately another problem related to this is the potential for players to ask a friend from another server to start the account from which to launch these attacks. This does not breach the TOS as no multi accounting is involved.

Rally point could be linked to further distances allowed from sending city and thus the ability to launch these attacks, so the player would have to upgrage beyond level 5 or something in order to start sending long distance spam. At least with more requirements to meet, this might deter more people from engaging in this activity.

So if the person was going to send from a multi account within the same state they have just started they would be restricted to sending spam from within a 100 miles or something. The ability to send longer distance spam would be available after upgrading to the tech/building level and you could in theory send longer attacks down the track.

Hopefully this would not impact on anyone wanting to cap npc and fight from them, however a player could still cap a level ten and give it to an alt and circumvent the system unfortunately. If you could be bothered lol, I know i couldn't.

Well, if it's not part of the shared code base, then that was a bad design too, although when you're not the frontline developer, you only get the code that you've purchased as the core, and then you modify what you want modified.

In any case, the fact remains that precious little is done about botting and multi-accounting. The claim is out there that "hundreds" of accounts are suspended per day. All I can say is that news of large-scale suspensions would quickly spread throughout the customer base, at least server-wide, if not game-wide. I haven't heard of any suspensions like that in months (the recent Eric stuff doesn't count), yet I know for a fact that 90%+ of my own alliance violates one rule or another. That trend likely holds for the entire server. Even if it were to trend downward to only 75% of the entire server, that still is a large majority.

Like I said, I used to enjoy this game... If they're not going to do enough about cheaters, then at least give people some tools to ignore the riff raff...

They do do checks as I was locked out for half a day a while ago while they checked my activity records (I guess) but the bots are getting more complex, I hear and can be hard to detect. Multi accounting is hard to stop as proxies and other methods can disguise this sort of activity. Really the only way I can think of to restrict multi's is to add restrictions such as account verifications and identity checks at sign-up and that can turn potential customers off before they even try the game in question.

I don't cheat at all by the way so it doesn't matter to me but the last time they did a mass banning the screams and wails could be heard around the world. Unfortunately many of those cheaters just got a free holiday period as food consumption was turned off and they were put into truce. Most of the time the accounts were reopened without problems but every now and then they find a botter or multi and they are dealt with. It's just not as easy to prove cheating as you might think and an honest player can begin to look like a cheat to a relative n00b when they don't know the game well and what is possible.

botting is rampant, and more botters are created every day than are suspended .. .no action from the evony developers will only lead to more botting . . is a vicious cycle that can only be broken by constant work, something evony employees are not willing to put in (see my comments on merging servers topics).

Like I said, since they are going to do next-to-nothing with respect to even caring about rule enforcement, at least give people the tools to limit the impact.

its not part of the game at all.. when you beat the crap out of some one and they go and make an alternate account.. to do it from.. or is it...??

and its not a part of any alliance tactic.. as the player has never been a member of an alliance.. scout report doesnt even show an embassy..

i dont disagree with the fact that its being done.. im saying there should be a way of dealing with it so it doesnt make your bird flash.. and i thought having a 'player ignore' button that allows you to ignore any attacks they sent would solve it.. rather than an 'attack ignore' button that allows you click off any attack..

this would solve the noob alt issue.. but still allow players to use it from their mains..
if thats what they want to be known for doing...

rodri.. im certainly not saying that using the camp to time attacks is a massive flaw.. mate.. go back and read the thread
game would be impossible with out the camp time.. its bad enough with the server lag as it is sending attacks ... would be good if you could get the camp time in hours/mins/secs... but thats another suggestion for another thread...
nope, i dont do it at all. just because it doesnt bothor me, doesnt mean i do it. when i hear about people being killed in my city, it doesnt bother me.. but i dont kill people..

it is part of the game, clearly, because you can do the same thing from a main account. the only thing that makes this against the rules is the use of alts, which cant be proven quite as easily as youd want it to be.

The only way to stop it at all, is to change the way sending attacks works as far as camp times.. this will effect real accounts more than the spam accounts that are hurting your soul, because alts arnt goin anywhere.

exactly cush.. alts arent going any where... neither are the botters.. i dont know why evony doesnt incorporate an 'in house' farming bot.. but thats not what this thread is about..
you cant just ban people from starting new accounts on a server.. as some may be starting for legitimate reasons.. and these people shouldnt be punished.. if they want to actually play the game..

it only takes a week to build a city and research large enough to make trans.. and any way.. with the free ammy spins.. you might win a mech battalion.. score one for the annoying p$5ck
an attack ignore button would seriously change the game play.. and this isnt the answer either.. as a player can just click of the spam, which maybe legitimate accompanying a real attack.. or just trying to get some one out of your state by blinking them.. which i would consider a tactic..
also you cant stop this tactic from being used.. say youve capped in next to me and youre going to try and take me out.. you can use this tactic from your other city.. 450miles away.. as an annoying distraction.. annoying as it is.. its coming from your own acc.. or even an alliance members account.. which is considered a legitimate tactic.. not a nice one.. but if you only half the prest, then any upper hand is an advantage ..

its when the attacks come from a noob acc.. not in any alliance , never been in any alliance.. for months on end.. from 500miles away.. never sending any real attacks at all.. ok.. granted.. it is just a minor annoyance.. for the first week.. but after 3 months you start to lose faith, after 4 months your starting to annoy people you may think can help with the issue, after 5 months youd be ready to give up.. and after 6 months youve started a new game.. NOT evony.. a different game cuz you can see the flaw and dont want to waste another year or so building up another acc.. when the same thing can just happen again ..
by implementing a 'player ignore' button that allows to block all his attacks seems to be the right way to go..as you could then just ignore the player.. thus stop him from annoying you.. would make the practice pointless.. however.. if that player does build up, he can then send bigger attacks.. ofc will be ignored so wont flash your bird.. but would show up in a separate page of 'ignored attacks'
this thing is.. there is nothing you can do about this annoyance.. you port in.. zero the city.. they just port away and start again.. when youve zeroed the acc so they ran out of free ports.. they just hit reset.. and 3 days later it starts again..
ignore the player right up as soon as he starts with the crap.. problem solved.. he can waste his time.. not mine.. and in 6 months time when hes build up enough to maybe launch a real attack.. you can un ignore them...

annoyance problem solved with just one simple click..

So Cush, since this does not happen to you it seems it is not an issue?

I would say no one gives a hoot whether you are annoyed or not. Our entire alliance is riddled with these 80 hour attacks on an almost unending basis. I have learned to live with the dang bird, checking frequently. But for you to continuously flame the OP on this thread and assume that it is not an issue just because it does not affect you....makes me think that maybe you yourself have used this "tactic" and don't want to see it go bye bye.
