Yes but is fire an invention? The method for starting fires may have been invented, but fire itself is natural.

Tool suggests mediation, which means an object is used to make a goal more achievable. I'm not saying religion isn't a valid answer to JOJ's question, but I'd like to push those who answered with that. What does religion mediate?

In my opinion, I would say fire is the most important invention. It scares cave bears, cooks food, provides light for neanderthal smoochie times and awesome cave paintings (thus birthing art), builds communities, and allowed primitive humans to control and modify their environment. Also: charmander.
He's been here since '09 bro. That is past the window of mercy.

Just curious if that would have broken any of the TOS.....
It's amusing how mods are the automatic scapegoat.
Although, those words are lyrics to a song, the term 'religion' a mere euphemism for society. I wouldn't expect you to know the band or the song, but if you'd like to educate yourself, here:

I'd have to agree with Ski, on language. Without language there would be no religion, no civilization, nothing. And while fire is useful, we simply invented various ways to wield it, we didn't invent fire itself.

Furthermore, now that we have established Religion was indeed an invention and has had significant impact in several ways, the discussion of the topic needs to end. Posting your opinions on the impact and uses and that sort of thing will not be allowed.

The wheels of survival are greased more readily by easy lies than hard truths.

Yes but we can communicate without language, all language does is make communication easier. Without the wheel and plow we would have starved long ago and would be nowhere near where we are in the present day. It is obvious that we would not be at this point without language, but I would argue that language itself is not an invention but rather an evolution of mans ability to communicate with each other. The plow and wheel on the other hand are also arguably instruments that evolved, but they are not natural.

    The Best invention of Man-kind?

    Steel...

For without Steel we wouldn't be able to build or cars like we do... we wouldn't have the tool's we do they would be made of softer materials or worse wood... We build buildings and houses with it, we make instruments with it, we use it to shape our land through vehicles and fencing, we make utensils from it Never attempt to tell me you have eaten from a steel knife or fork, we make pots and pans with it, beds, shelves, benches, trailers, machines, chairs, heck we build just about everything with it, and what we don't build out of it we use things made of it to build them well 9/10th's of the time any way...

Steel... we just wouldn't be able to do half of what we can with the tools and tech we have with out it...
