I thought of an answer to this question for a while and couldnt make up my mind for a specific time period. There are certain times that I would have liked to avoid, ie. the black plague, but lots that I wouldnt have minded going back to. Every century as its appeals, whether it be the Assyrian War Machine, or the Napoleonic Wars or even the centuries of the Renaissance where man was finally beginning to fulfill his potential in terms of scientific thought. So I thought that if I had the opportunity to go back in time, I would go about it like I used to in evony, just hit the random button and see where I end up

Personally i would visit any century before the creation of guns. I like old steal weapons ie swords, pikes, etc.

And I'd be curious about the 1st century. Bunch of stuff that may or may not have happened about that time, depending on who you ask.
    Now this I like.

Probably sometime in the future, but would be careful not to pull off a back to the future incident.

Yes, that's a good answer. And Raphael. And that fighting Pope Julius II. Interesting people!

In that vein, I wouldn't mind travelling to America in the latter half of the Eighteenth century. Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, Hamilton... wow!

But really, it's no contest. I'd want to go to the first century BC in Rome. An extraordinary time and place. Marius, Sulla, Saturninus, Drusus, Scaurus, Pompey, Cicero, Clodius, Cato and that peerless individual Gaius Julius Cesar. A dangerous time and place admittedly, at least for some. But I don't know of any other when so many talented, even brilliant people existed in so close temporal proximity to one another. And in a society (Republican Rome) that was starting to come apart, making opportunities for each that had never existed before. And I assure you, the above list of name is far from exhaustive...

(Edit): I can already hear Conrad applauding my singling out exceptional people driving history forward, a view he holds strongly and not an altogether false one.
