I'd have yo agree with Alusair. I think many times people blame religion instead of the people themselves, when in all honesty every person is responsible for their own actions, decisions, opinions, and beliefs. I don't deny that culture has a huge influence on the aforementioned things, but culture is not responsible for them as many people portray it to be.

I believe he had many opinions, very different from accepted conservative/christain views. His friends claimed he became extreme as far as nationalism went, etc. These opinions probably developed all their own, inside a twisted mind. You can't blame religion, or government for that matter, for a twisted mind. there was a screw loose somewhere in his brain.

But in all seriousness, there's a movie called Rampage.. with a VERY similar chain of events to what happened. Planning for months ahead of time. Giving a subtle hint or two. Beginning the massacre with a bomb. Shooting dozens to death, regardless of who they were.

The wheels of survival are greased more readily by easy lies than hard truths.

There was method in Behring Breivik's madness, SBD. It get even worse when you realize who he was trying to kill and who he was killing:

Firstly, the Norwegian Prime Minister was targeted. He escaped without injury. However, then the psychotic, deranged b*stard went to a Norwegian Labour Party camp. He wanted to kill a certain Gro Harlem Brundtland, who just so happened to be the former Norwegian Prime Minister. Then, he opened fire indiscriminately, but then, to further compound his awful crimes, he showed mercy to two people; one boy who had just seen his father gunned down, and a 22-year old who begged for his life. Breivik seemingly left them alone.

Some people apparently played dead. But Breivik apparently shot those who were playing dead in the head with a hunting rifle 'to make sure'.

In my view, he deserves the death penalty, but he will get life without parole if found guilty, as Norway does not have the death penalty.

If he does get life, he should get life in Solitary, on the most tasteless possible diet, in the darkest possible cell, all without possibility of parole...Because nothing can atone for this crime.

Politics is no reason to kill...Even if it IS in a war.

Death is too good for this man, because of all the pain he caused.

Just to remind everyone (i.e. Brotherhood and Jurnis), Norway does not have a "life sentence" per se.

And I don't think religion had anything more to do with it than if the two shared a similar hair or eye color. Admittedly I myself tend to be a skeptic of religion or religious people at times, but I think the trait that makes people do things likes this comes down more to human psyche than religious tenets, because you'll find good and bad eggs in any religion. That doesn't make a given religion bad, especially not the most popular religion in the world which is consequently going to numerically draw in the most whackos.
I think McVeigh was a good sign. Anders I think wanted to knock down the government and put up a stronger and more effective type to fight of "Islam" in his eyes. McVeigh just wanted to knock the government down. Both wanted to knock the government down and in there complete acts of insanity commited horrible crimes againest humanity.

Maximium that the Government in Norway can hand out is 21 Years. Now if they were smart they could individivually charge him I.E. 60+ counts of 1st Degree Murder, Two Charges of Treason (Two acts of Treason), and they could get him MAYBE depending on the law, Weapons Charges, and possibley Taxes. If they did each charge seperately it would be a big succession of charges.

Or you could just read the entire thread and learn what they are going to do to him and not double post.

At least they blocked him from speaking and wearing a uniform. Good call by their justice system.

Special Props To Don Ezio for this!
