We chose servers with the most latency problems, because they will benefit most from reduced botting. The fix will not be immediate, but we expect to see improvement over time.

We understand that we may get fewer purchases because of this, as bot users decide to quit or stop paying. However, we believe the eventual outcome will be an even better and more fun game environment.
I came out of holiday mode temporarily last night to help defend against attackers who teleported into our state.

There was a period of approximately 15 minutes last night where you could do nothing. Everything paused on SS57: alliance chat, world chat, the ability to do anything, everything. The latency was about 15 minutes, which is far worse than the delays we've experienced up till now.

Is there any explanation for why this happened?

As for the rest of the evening the responsiveness of the system was acceptable, albeit that hundreds of accounts are currently in holiday-mode.

BTW, if I remember correctly, I only had to respond to captcha once last night during about 7 hours. This isn't too bad when compared with the past weekend's implementation. The image was also spaced out better. Were improvements made, or was I just lucky?

Note, I too won't be buying more coins for a while until I see sustained improvement (last bought coins around Easter, prior to the lag getting out of hand). But having said that I do still have a few 100 coins on the account. I actually bought my first excalibur in about three months last night. Right now my coins are being used for holidaying the account.
