Thread: Captchas Now Testing on ss57 and ss60

    The server is a lot more responsive, but there are still intervals of major lag. My post somewhere in the first few 100 messages mentioned it.

    On Tuesday, the server lagged for 15 minutes. Nothing worked. Not even world chat. I was speaking to a fellow alliance-member who lives 16000kms away from me on my cell-phone as my head-set is currently broken and couldn't use skype. Both of us experienced the same problem at the same time.

    Everyone in world chat were posting the same complaints. Evony did receive our messages, the responses just came back minutes later.

    Evony, look up your world-chat logs for Tuesday. Look for variations of "laaaa.....aaaag!" in world-chat. It was around that time.

    Hi Thantium,

    I'm sure I'll join you in getting flamed for what I'm about to say, but I have mentioned it before.

    Once the captcha thing is working properly, and everyone can see/hear (possibly even smell?) the characters that pop-up, will you please implement it on all servers.

    SS57 and SS60 contain veteran accounts. Whilst there are major accusations of botting, etc. for these servers, all you need to do is look up the hero-stats of our servers and you'll see that the biggest heroes are no where near as high as the heroes on the newer servers.

    I saw an image posted in one of the threads where there was a hero with something like 1800 politics and 1900 attack. This is on a high-numbered, non-super-server server - i.e. a relatively new server. Unless the guy has single-handedly paid your salaries for a few months by buying 100s of on-wars, I would guess something foul was afoot. His competitors weren't very far behind him.

    Labelling SS57 and SS60 botters-paradise is unfair on players who probably took a year to even pass 200 attack. Granted we've collectively probably been the bane of every technically minded Evony employee since around April/May when the lag became unbearable, but all in all we have some really good players frequenting our lag-saturated establishments.

    The game experience for Evony should be the same on all its servers. As captcha is becoming part of the game experience, there should be a level playing field on all servers; i.e. make it a feature of the game on all current servers, even the newer ones.

    Yes, and you will see 800+ attack heroes on new servers like 1 week in the server... If you know a bot which can do that please give me a link, i will sell those heroes 50$ a piece and get some nice money.

    People just spend a lot of money nova days. Bots have nothing to do with it so early in the server. Or do you say that bots can put all flats to lvl 10 in 1 day? How many NPCs 10 you can build in 1st week and farm to get those heroes?

    You can be unhappy about something, but don't invent stuff which is not true.

    Have you missed that mail about 4650$ and bonuses you're getting with it?

    IF you spend money you will get much more. LVL 200 hero in a year? No wonder you complain.

    Evony was never fair, never ever. IT's a joke about even playing field. I you play without spending and i will drop even 100$ i will be farming you till you port away and never come back. It's that simple.

    Bot's do advance you faster, but they can't give you a 800+ attack hero in 1 week.

    I'll try to answer most of these points.

    There was some really high Hero's on the newest servers. Some where being done by people buying and selling accounts and playing games with credit cards to get the Hero's up. These Hero's where removed, and the players and all related accounts removed from the game. 7 day suspensions got handed out for anyone we found that participated in this even remotely with this.

    There was also also some Hero's with politics levels above the max, this was actually a weird display error that we patched and those hero's now display the correct levels.

    Your right we need to develop a smell-o-vision captcha!!! I am not sure how we missed that. We are looking at audio captchas... There is a small problem with them, as most of the available captchas that have audio built in already have coding libraries that have broken them. The one we have currently does not have any known library's that break it. Currently in house we are looking at 2 difference captchas that both have audio support though.

    One of the reason that we did the captcha now was the latency issues on ss57, turns out the current bots spam the servers and cause delays and other issues. It was weird since ss57 did not have the highest player population and was on newer faster hardware then any other server we have currently deployed. Once we put the captcha in, it looks like alot of the botters moved to ss60 which caused high latency over there, and we decided to test it on that server also.

    and it will not ever be gone. you do realize that adding Captcha bandwidth to every account will only make things worse. furthermore i am sure the Botters have already programed a work around for it rendering Captcha's a none issue for them.

    games are supposed to be fun, and if i wanted to play a word game or letter recognition game i would play something else like scrabble or sudoku.. but i am not, i am playing a war game where i can build and attack. captcha's just don't fit into that dynamic of fun.

    there's really no point in arguing or continuing this thread. everyone who is talking on here has the view point of an actual player. the few admins/moderators who actually play suck anyway and are having their pockets filled so of course they dont give a sh|t what anyone in here is saying

    Im having issues believing this statement for the simple reason you tested on ss57 and within 24hrs had started on ss60, am I expected to believe that someone took their bot account from ss57 and brought it to ss60?
    A mass exodus of bots to ss60 surely those people would have needed to create new accounts on ss60 to do this? what would be the point of that at this late stage in the game?
    The latency has been bad since our last merge because too many people or should I say players and cities were put on one server, ss60 is a 3 times merged server and instead of clearing out all the dead accounts and stopping new accounts being created you let it all carry on to the point where it is now overloaded and laggy

    It was more like 3 or 4 days. And yes we saw a rise of new accounts being created on ss60, after we implemented on ss57. Also dead accounts do not cause lag.

    Thantium is there no way to just darken some of the lettering? I know it won't help those that are dyslexic until you're able to find an audio version but it would help some of us that have a hard time seeing them immediately.

    We are looking at other captcha options, we are not ignoring this, can you please send me via the forums a screenshot of the captchas that have color issues for you? Please google how to take screenshot on your OS.
