What is the makes a host good or bad? what sets a great host apart? Tell us a story of the worst host you ever had, or the best memory of a host you had. I am sure there are some great stories out there.

At the cost of your pride knowing when to back down for the sake of an alliance

I got in a very hairy situation with Pavlov my first 2 weeks on s39.
I had a sister alliance that did all our diplomacy and I never was allowed to talk to any of the hosts (very big noob at the time)

But was happy at the chance to talk to pavlov when my sis alliance asked me to see if can get blue..He declared on us

Told me to step down as host, and I did...but war didnt stop

To make sure my so called sis alliance Blue wasnt thretened they disowned us and told Pav we were his enemies allies..then to cover her tracks she told every alliance in burgundy that we were spying on them.

By chance I talked to one of the host an hour before they where going to declare and told them the truth.Pavlov went blue with us and we destroyed our sis

Alot of people know me as an ok player...but there are times when you need to back down to preserve the alliance as an hole.If I handt did what i did,and refused to give up my host position I prob would of quit early in the game

Well, the Hen is involved, but the Pig is committed.

Best host-Shakle 154. I turned the alliance into crap..he turned it into a war alliance and a force to be reckoned with.
Worst host- on SS1..can't remember the name but had plenty of oppurtunitys to maket he alliance grow, instead took the oppurtunitys to benefit for himself and left the alliance to die and took himself and all his alts to a bigger and better alliance. RIP Buddy

Worst Hosts: Someone on s156 when i joined it was top allaince and i was put officer, they asked me to go be pres of sister allaince and so i did. I few weeks into the server the sister allaince and main went to war, I gave my loyalty to the sister allaince host. After that a few days later i was demoted when i asked why i was booted then attacked.

Also on SS63/s138 I have have the worst and best hosts, in Legendary the host was Wolstance he was a great mentor and friend, the worst in Legendary was ... i forget his name lol but he was given host positing from the previous host under the condision that the pre host stayed Vhost the next day he demoted the pre host and said the reason was he was unfit to lead, then later he jumped ship to a red allaince,

So then i left evony for few month and came back to WarWick previously Legendary, i joined and the host IllCuore became a great mentor teacher and friend to me and everyone in the allaince, then when she left she put one of the Vhost in charge who after a long time started to not listen to the people in the allince and would not listen to complaints,

Sorry for all my spelling erroes

Fun way to annoy your enemys

I am not a good host as I try to do everything as I used to attract lazy people who wanted protection but not to help others. No, a host I am not good but I was always a good VH.

I had a top number of great hosts, my last was Eric (don;t know aka's apart from Kaiser something) who never stopped pushing us to get better and was never complacent. Never asked us to do something he would not do and he was always willing to do the first few hits on a major opponent. Been so long since I played cannot remember the names - although some names I have read seem familiar.

Default What makes a good host

I have had tons of hosts w/ varying degrees of success in the position. Here are some things that the best hosts have been able to do that put them above others:
    1. listen to everyone or at least seem to listen to people. They do not have to follow what people say, but they at least listen to them and appear to care
    2. they make everyone in the alliance feel important: a lot of the big alliances focus on the top players, but the bests hosts are able to recruit a group that works as a team and makes everyone feel wanted/needed
    3. retrospective: they do not get caught on certain things. they are able to think rationally and make changes when needed
    4. comfortable: they have to be comfortable enough with themselves that they can take constructive criticism designed to make an alliance better
    5. host is active with attacks, helping members, etc
    6. host needs to be bigger, as they are a common target and they need to be able to kind of hold their own

I probably forgot a few things, but this is a start

I do agree with you here in some cases, but when I first started Evony I had a host who wasn't that experienced in Evony, but even though he didnt know some answers to my question he would always look it up on the web because he wanted to help. Even though he couldn't help out in war, he was one of the most helpful hosts ive had, and in my opinion the help that the host gives is one of the most important things that makes a host a 'good' host.
