What does the OT mean to you?

I know that there have been plenty of discussions about what this part of the Forums is, or what it has, or over the rules that are here...

But is this place more than just a place to visit? Is it more than a group of people? And is acer5200 truly a monkey like the rumor going around says?And is Revoltion truly ugly?

Please post your take on things here, and please keep it clean if you plan to rant!!!

OT= Off Topic, welcome Jurnis there is a bar, some cats, and lots of green eggz and SPAMZZ. Sometimes you see the occasional blue person streaking through as well.

It's just a safe place where I can come and be myself. It's like a counselor's office, no one is going to make fun of me for what I wear or think or say. And if they do, I can squish their self esteem into a pulp or it's someone who asks the right questions and forces me to go teach myself something so as to stop myself from sounding like a moron again. (But since Rota and Rodri don't come around here nomo the latter rarely happens these days.) I don't have to always be as smart here as I do reddit, I don't have to deal with random CP or bronies or hundreds of pizzas showing up at my front door because I made one tiny mistake in anonymity. I can make people cry or laugh or smile or hate me in relative peace.

Elsewhere on the internet it is ridiculously embarrassing to admit to have ever for one single moment even thought about playing Evony. Here we all know we made terrible mistakes in the past and that no one is perfect. I know there are other game forums out there that are just as open and forgiving but the forums of other games I tend to play consist mainly of us narc-ing out cheaters/exploiters, mocking one another for not know how to cheat/exploit, and discussing new and improved ways to cheat/exploit. Instead of one giant community here, it's more like high school. Not all of us are in the same grade or taking the same classes, the population here is split up into little factions of servers, alliances, and those who stopped playing but still stop by to hang out.

The Internet is going through a lull right now. No super awesome MMOs have come out lately, just a lot of over-hyped closed beta so a lot of us have been hopping from forum to forum to forum as the games open and suck and we leave to go try out another one. The poker forums are all depressed and lonely because the US gov't has it on hiatus or maybe perma banned, nobody really knows. Misc got really really really boring. And a lot of other forums lost tons of their quality old time posters as they got older got jobs and started having regular sex. This new generation of children becoming teenagers is just really dumb as a whole, they can't hold concrete ideas in their little brains and can't engage in back and forth conversations longer than 15 seconds. They're like little goldfish just swimming aimlessly around their small glass bowls of putrid water.

i love the off-topic everything is a little more free there, and some people have problems with people who post in all the games to get their post count up, but the rep bar tells you if that person is worth speaking to or not.(mostly)

Yes, he is, I have proof.

I don't know what OT means to me, since I have only just set foot on it, and even then I have only really fully embellished it through the means of skype.
On forums, its more just a place where I can behave even more arrogant then I do usually, and get away with it.

I usually come to OT to see if there's any meaningful threads I would want to post in; or just to post in a few game threads, then leave them be for another fortnight... There's not usually much here worth posting about though..
