Question Lucid Dreaming...a illusion or reality?

Hopefully this thread won't get closed as it holds a intellectuale meaning. The topic is about Lucid Dreaming, where one realizes that they are dreaming and can take full controll of the dream. In a sense, become a somewhat "god" within their own dimmensional plane. A penny for ones thoughts on the subject? Is it real? Does one truely have control of the dream? All opinions are welcomed.

Lucid dreaming is definitely real in a sense, but usually people have to "train". However I once had out of nowhere realize it was a dream, and had a short time to control in a sense ( few years ago )

So yes it is real, and yes you do get control. But really I think you're just drawing it from your subconscious, so it isn't real!

The "training" for lucid dreaming mainly consists of sleeping longer and going to bed earlier. From my understanding, it all sounds perfectly normal. Its pretty much allowing our imagination to be set free in dreams but yet we force our subconcious minds into a half conciousness. It brings in so many more questions.

    I like this
Yeah, partly because I'm the first person to reply. EDIT: NO!!! *Sigh* Reasoner, you evil ninja sneaky poster you! Grrr...

In these kind of dreams, I usually find that I'm thinking in it and can shift things.
But they don't shift how I wanted them too, like when I wanted to fly I end up loosing control of the flight, flying way too high or having a nice up-close-and-personal meeting with a tree or the ground.

Real? How do you mean that? It is real in the sense that dreams are real (you have dreams, we know that. Thus, they're real), but obviously you don't dream about being a god and wake up being worshipped. lol

Once and a while I do get something like you said, where anything you want to happen can happen.

And damn it, why the hell do I have to wake up from those?

I believe it is real. In my mind it makes sense and it's reasonable to make the assumption that it can be achieved. But of course there's always that small doubt in everybody that even though they object to the idea of Lucid Dreaming they maintain the thought that maybe, just maybe it's real because it's pretty dang awesome. But of course it's all artificial since it's in your mind, that's obvious. But to be able to control your mind while you sleep is the discussion and i believe it is possible.

    It's all fake, guys.

It's like hypno-regression where you can relive your past lives. It's just your imagination.

    Not exactly.

I have also heard one needs to give a sign to themselves, to realize in that state that they're dreaming ( like seeing something that is impossible) kinda like inception in a way I think...

They need to train in some cases to realize they're dreaming, with all sorts of methods.

To be honest. I beleive its a way for people to deal with problems. Because you have control, you can defy the Laws of Physics, remeber past events and details many would miss. I hear it also good in therapy. If anything, it might be a reality away from reality.

Actually, creating a sign can be simple. If a person see's a red ball bouncing down a road or even a horn going off that could alert the person that they are dreaming. Its not impossible, but yet its not basic.

That makes a lot of sense. In a way it could comfort people that... Not sure how to explain it, but kinda that things they remember, or things they've always wanted aren't impossible to have, if in a way that isn't physically real.
