Its all a big possibility in there, but to truely grasp it you must remind yourself which is reality and which is the illusion, otherwise you start to lose your grip on real life...Hence why alarm cloacks have meanings to them. But to be pucid dreaming any yet have unlimited power...To truely see what its like to be in a gods place, or at least a being of creation.

Sure it happens, had it happen to me lots, always by accident rather than design, but still happens.

I'll find myself in a conversation, saying something that didn't come out right, and be able to "rewind" the conversation back to before my comment. Also, in dreams where I'm being chased by something, I'll find myself suddenly realising that "this is MY dream, bugger off!" and the chaser goes away. On a smaller scale, in dreams where I'm fighting someone, I've found myself thinking "why can I never hit this guy in a dream"

So yes, it does happen, the only real question is to what extent, and what affect.
I don't believe in thinking before I speak
I prefer to be just as surprised as everyone else by what I say

Guys, this whole lucid dreaming thing was just PR thing by the people that brought you Inception.

Have any of you been able to do it? Do you know anyone else who has?

crappy made one comment about a dream where he had control, but I don't believe you. I've had dreams where I thought I knew I was dreaming and thought I had control but no, you don't. It's a dream, it's not real and you are just imagining that you aren't imagining that you are imagining.

I'm talking real deal where you have full control and whatever. What was the dream about? When did you realize you had control? How did you realize? What did you do?

    Answer that.

EDIT: yes, I just read Kahlee's post but that's still not control. If you had control you would build Inception like things or have sex with your idea of ideal mate and have a perfect life together every night, you don't just make things stop chasing you.

Thats where you have to write your own laws of the universe, otherwise you barely have control.

Truth be told, I've actually had a lucid dream many times...Inception was also based off of the theory, not the other way around. When you realize it is a dream then you start to gain control, but not immediatly. Lack of sleep can cause less lucid dreaming. I once had control to the point I could bend space/time and be near omnipotent. Its not a hoax, but yet a way for one to bend and illusion to make it near reality. I realized I was dreaming thanks to the sign of a golden eagle flying by, from there I began to reshape the world into a more civilized place... I beleive I just "answered that" Rasterbee.

"A lucid dream is a dream in which one is aware that one is dreaming. The term was coined by the Dutch psychiatrist and writer Frederik (Willem) van Eeden (1860–1932).[1] In a lucid dream, the dreamer can actively participate in and manipulate imaginary experiences in the dream environment"

Nowhere, in the definition of Lucid Dreaming, does it stipulate control. Control is the illusion that doesn't truly exist.

The ability to recognise that you are participating in a dream, in an imaginary construct from your subconscious mind, designed to sort through and understand concepts and observations, is Lucid Dreaming. The ability to manipulate the experience to an extent does not imply control of the entire dream, just one aspect of it.

Since scientific study has shown that without dreaming, an entity would go insane, would you really WANT to control the entire experience of whatever your mind comes up with? Hence my previous question of what extent or effect.

Lucid dreams are most certainly real. They are real and one can control when to have one. I know because a few years ago I started studying lucid dreams as a self therapeutic attempt to improve my memory. I read a few of you mentioning signs. These are the trick to the whole process. After reading a lot about it and making a few amatur attempts I came accross an article that helped me understand how to do it.

Too make a long story short, I had to start wearing a watch. And checking it three times in a row, all day long. Even while lying in bed. I knew I was dreaming when on the second or third time looking at my watch, the times didn't match.

It opened a world of possibilities. At first I had a little fun lol, exploring the finer things in life. Which was fun for a while.. but I'd always wake up disappointed. Then I attempted to study to make myself smarter, but I could only learn things I already knew and everything else didn't make sense or I would lose consciousness as soon as I would start studying. Eventually I got tired all the time, and losing track of time. I became overly exhausted all the time. It got so bad people thought I was on drugs lol.

I had to stop wearing a watch and sort of untrain myself from this dangerous fun little world of imagination. I learned no matter how fun or real things may seem, your still going to wake up mentally exhausted tomorrow.

Yeah but ok we're talking about dreams where you can shape your reality.

If you expand this topic to include any dream where any of us knew we were dreaming, then all of us have experienced lucid dreaming before. Control over the dream is what I declare is not real and simply imagination.

EDIT: you people are posting too fast and I'm too drunk right now. Go away, acknowledge that I am correct. I'm going to sleep.
