Default bridging the gap between player and creator

Ok was thinking of posting this in the game suggestions box but decided to put it here cuz its not really a game suggestion. In the last two months evony has been making largely unpopular decisions and i believe it is because of lack of player insight. I'm not sure if they if they are taking into consideration our opinion on matters but we are the people who make the game what it is. The outlook has been that of a parent to a child. What i say goes if you don't like it you can get out kinda thing. Someone opens up a thread about a major change evony and it becomes a free for all of opinions with some people making valid points and others acting childish and screaming cursing and saying evony sucks. I think the players should have a say in things before the final decision is truely made. An idea for this i believe would be polling in the forums or a head of players complaints type things on the forums. Maybe for the polling maybe have a minimum of 300-500 posts to be able to vote so you have players who are constantly on here and really know whats going on in the forums and how they operate. Or maybe having a person you discuss future ideas with so the players have a say in how things are done with the game. At the moment players are leaving in droves people i have played with forever no longer want to play the game because of the treatment they have recieved in the recent months. Can you please institute something where you listen to your players rather then institute something and let us know where the door is. Thank you in advance any suggestions or feed back will be appreciated(please dont rant with complaints on this thread i've had enough).

Not sure on the post minimum - There wouldn't be many players that have 300 posts really - Some good players have less posts - as they only just log in to post some great hits on their server forum - then leave the forums again for a bit..
So disagree with that part, but generally yes - it would be a good idea. However - similar has previously been discussed, and we have seen no change.

Just from general observation: As much as we may like to be able to think we'd be able to have 'the last word' when it comes to changes to a game, the truth is it's the game company's call. We can suggest, we can bring up, and we have before. But final call on stuff has never been the player's. It probably never will be.

Having a single player 'person' to discuss things with? Who would you suggest? Who would the gamers be most likely to trust with that job? Answer: We'd have a lot of nominations, but we'd never all agree on one particular person. Why? Because we, in a lot of ways, have different 'interests' when it comes to the game. So, we'd never be sure if that one person, or even a small group were doing it 'for the good of the game', or 'the good of THEIR game'.

Do new features need to really be tested thoroughly before they come out to the general public? Yes. Will they ever be, to player satisfaction? No.

It is hard to ask a wide range of players. Those on the forums represent a small amount of players. They could I suppose send out a mail in game and have a poll.

They can test something for a year. There will always be bugs and glitches. That is impossible to get away from. I believe it could be better than it is now though.

We did send out a poll to a large percentage of our players, and I believe the #1 requested item was bug fixes. Its one of the reasons we think fixing bugs is so important.

Where was this poll? I am in a coalition that owns more than half our server and no-one told me about this.

Ok but honestly after seeing player reaction and how its totally changed the game for all your players can you honestly tell me you still think it was a good decision?

I never saw or heard about that poll. But of course, the questions drive the usefulness of a poll. Having done some of that work professionally, you need focus groups first to give you the insight on what to ask in your poll. I can design questions to give pretty much any answer I want. It is a common political campaign trick. But designing a poll to give real insight on what customers want and value is a much more difficult, and far more profitable task. Most survey's are poorly designed biased garbage and they produce useless results.

So you can say "the #1 requested item was bug fixes and multi-hit was a bug so we did what customers want. And you would be fooling yourself.

Ask your customers if they want you to make changes to increase the amount of time they have to spend farming to maintain their armies. See how they vote on that question. That is exactly what you did by eliminating multi-hit.

So two different questions can be made to apply to the same change, and will produce exactly opposite results. One causes you to lose customers.
